Temp Gauge Not Working

So a few months ago I finally grew sick of looking at the DIC coolant temp and decided to install a temp gauge using the Greddy Upper rad hose fitting:
Greddy Radiator Hose Adapter with Temp Gauge Fitting 38mm at RallySportDirect.com
All went well in installing it and i managed to get a hold of an A pillar of a cobalt SS so i had a slot for the temp gauge. Except once i had everything hooked up, when i turned my vehicle on the gauge would turn on, the illumination light would come on but no matter how hot the engine got the gauge would not show a reading. So i figured well maybe the gauge/sensor i have is faulty so ive tried 2 other gauges and they both do the exact same thing as the original gauge. So I figured well maybe my wiring is faulty so i took the gauges and ran a ground DIRECTLY to the NEG end of the battery, and for 12V+ i ran a wire DIRECTLY to the positive end of the battery so there was no chance of bad wiring. The result was the same, light/gauge turn on, no temp shown by all 3 gauges.

Hopefully some of u guys have some ideas cause im really stumpted, thx for any responses.

Possibly the actual sensor or the price that meters less.or higher resistance which tells you the warmth or cold.

yea im thinking that it has to do with the temp sensor but each gauge only works with its own specific sensor so i dont know what i could really change to get a better result

What temp gauge are you using?show link so that we can see the installation instruction.
Maybe the sensor has to be grounded, try touching a wire from chassis ground to the greedy adapter.

Also you could of damaged the sensor wire during the install( check continuity )

first one i tried is
Auto Meter

as well as others which have similar instructions.
i also tried grounding the sensor directly to the chassis and it didnt make a difference.

If I dont want to see the DIC for coolant temp, I bring it up on my interceptor. its one of the usable paramaters.
