Temp reading --- today... and
I had my AC on and was wondering why I had no cold air, I mean come on, my wife's 2003 Sunfire blows cold and never had a recharge and here my 2007 is luke warm...
I wondered what was up, and figured it was just going to take a while to cool down but shut it off instead.
A minute late I scrolled through the display and the Temp display only showed three dashes --- and no temp reading.
That made me upset... So I pulled over, shut off the car, touched the engine and it did not feel super hot. Nor did the oil smell bad.
I looked at the wiring harnesses and connections, and they looked fine.
But, when I tried to start the car, it struggled for a second to start.
Not a slip of the starter, but rather a low battery kind of response.
I drive off, and acceleration was 'slightly' rough. But after 2 minutes of driving it felt fine.
This all started today, and I have read that some think it is a sticky thermostat.
Or possibly a bad temp sensor.
But, what is the deal with the AC and now the struggle to start?
I am guessing the slight roughness in accelerating could be due to a dying battery.
What say you guys?

problems with my 09 sedan ss turbo
whats up fellas ...to answer the question about problems with the cobalts i have had a ton ...well to start i bought it as my daily driver with 120 miles on it off the lot....the first thing was my pass. side mirror motor went out followed by the 2 and 4 injectors being clogged or something they said "bad gas" next the turbo was only putting out 5lbs. of boost took it in and they said my o2 sensor had blown.when i reverse and turn left a horrible metal on metal sound screaches not to include all of the recalls (power steering side curtain airbags and clearance issues with the intercooler and the ground) so far all of these problems have been fixed and the car runs beautiful but it brings up the queastion why do we love that which makes us hate..........

I just noticed something else.
The engine is cold, and I started it up today... and the engine fan was ON.
I guess the thermo or temp switch is giving the computer the signal to activate due to the unknown condition of the coolant temp?

No CEL has been thrown, yet.
I am taking over to a shop tomorrow.
It looks easy to replace the temp sensor, but with my luck, they used Loc-tite and I would damage a harness or something as it is tucked back there good.

i do know that it will eventually throw a code for Coolant temp not at operating temp. P0128 i believe. come and goes on my 2.4 i havent torn it apart cause its not a constant issue. the only reason i feel it could be related to my thermostat sticking, is last week after driving on the highway to work for 20 + miles the temp never got over 163*, thermostat shouldnt open till 180.

Thank you guys for the input.
That is worrisome, running that cool can't be good.
Before this happened I was running at around 190-205 temp wise.
I am going to ask them how much more getting the thermostat replaced will be.
It has 3 years on it, so maybe it will be good for prevention of future problems at the very leasy. Even if it turns out to not be the culprit or even partial problem.
