Ticking Engine?

I have a horrid ticking noise coming from either my engine or s/c, can only hear it when the hood is open and the engine is running. It honestly has got to be the most unhealthy sounding engine in the world.. It is completely unnoticeable from inside the car, or when the hood is closed. Does anyone else's engine tick? I figured it was normal considering i haven't thrown a CEL and performance is great.

I've noticed an odd kinda ticking noise from mine recently. But I think mine is coming from a faulty Ingalls ETD. About the time I noticed the noise I also notice that my wheel hop has came back

Ecotecs are very noisy engines. It could be normal.

You are most likely hearing the injectors ticking. It is normal, most all cars have this ticking noise

Ive had that since october. The dealer looked at it and said it goes away when the engine warms up. It sucks though cause it sounds like ****!!!

I have always heard a constant ticking outside the car, a cold engine makes it more noticable.

sounds like a lack of oil getting to the valves. Cylinder 1 is notorious for lack of oil being the last piston to get it usually.
