Ticking Engine and CEL
Ticking Engine and CEL
2007 G5 GT
Automatic
Mods - GMPP Intake/Specter Filter
Driving the G5 3 days ago, as I'm driving, I get a CEL that goes on for approx. 30 seconds, then went off. (I was just cruising at 60 km/hour). Now, whenever I turn on the car and drive the car, I've been hearing a ticking noise in the engine. I'm saying ticking because the sound I really hear is very hard to describe. It does involve fast tickings -->tick tick tick tick (really fast), but it also sounds like the engine is gargling something. I have no idea what it is. Hope someone can help.

Changing the oil next wednesday actually. I've only done 6K since the last change but i like to do ti before I hit 8 kms (im not a hard driver).
Now that you mention it it does sound a little oil related, but why would my CEL go on for oil when I have over 45% oil life left?

Have you checked to see if your oil level is low?
As far as the CEL, idk. Go to Autozone or Advance Auto and have the scan it. IIRC, the code should still be on the ECU. Its been a while since I've had to scan codes though, so I don't remember if itll be saved or not.

If I Remember Correctly.
Check your oil every time you pump gas... at least every other time.
Trust me... it'll help you avoid disaster.
