this loud annoying ticking sound jus started happening, sounds like its coming from blower but not 100% and does get faster if i rev the car. I searched for ticking and too many things came up. It doesnt sound good at all. Any ideas where to start looking? Thanks

I had a loud ticking recently too. One day it just started. I took it to the dealer, but they found nothing. All of the bolts on my fuel rail (dealer installed with Stage 2 a couple of years ago) were loose. They tightend those, but it didn't help. Said maybe it was normal wear and tear or the timing chain. I put in a bottle of fuel system cleaner just for the heck of it. A tank and a half later, the sound just went away. No idea what the real issue was/is.

the coupler isnt that hard to do and its pretty cheap, you can get a rebuild kit on ebay with everything you need, put a long screwdriver on the blower snout with the car running and put the handle on your ear and see if its the blower before you buy it.
It involves removing the blower, draining the sc oil, opening the snout, replacing the coupler, putting the snouth back on and refilling the oil.
search eaton m62 rebuild kit on ebay, i believe zzp also has this. ebay has all you need for about 50 bucks.

So I'm 90% sure blower is making the sound and I'm hoping it's just bad coupler. I have the belt off should I be able to spin pulley freely or what? I can spin it and I dint hear any sound. Would I hear the sound or no?

there anyway to tell if its timing chain tensioner or coupler? sounds stupid but i was pretty sure sound was coming from blower especially since it rev matched and all. plus i can just spin pulley by hand easily isnt that a bad thing?
Also last time i took blower off was when i did stage but do i need to take off fuel rail to take off blower looks tight but just wondering

SSinPA you have a sound clip or anything? My pulley spins freely but not exactly sloppy by any means so im started to wonder if it is indeed the coupler or something else like the timing chain tensioner. I need to fix asap and to overnight the coupler will cost me $45 so $60 total, but why would i hear the sound more so at the blower and not on top of valve cover? Need some more help guys

If it's the tensioner the sound will be coming from the left side of the engine (passenger side), and it will be quite loud. If it's the coupler it will be more or less coming from where the snout attaches to the blower body.

i know that but it just echoes like lol. I thought it was blower i mean blower had the sound when i put long piece of wood against it and then i put it against vavle cover and nearly nothing...but why replace coupler if pulley isnt sloppy which would mean the coupler isnt bad correct?

Yea man, take a long screw driver, put the flat end on the snout of the blower and put the handle on your ear, you can do this with the timing chain area, you should be able to hear the rattle through the screwdriver. it doesnt hurt to change the coupler either, did you get the stock coupler or an upgraded one, the upgraded ones will outlast the blower.
