tranny problems and whats that noise??
tranny problems and whats that noise??
I'm not really sure if I have a tranny or sync problem or if I am just a dumb ass. My 06' ss/sc has 18k miles on it and I don't race it, I have launched it from a dead stop like maybe 10 times total in the year since I bought it (I will not do that again until my torque damper comes in). I have red lined it a few times from stupidity because early on in having the car I couldn't compensate fast enough for 1st gear being so short, I learned that lesson quick.
My problem is this. Every now and then, usually going from 2nd to 3rd its like I hit a wall. This seems like a sync issue to me but its fairly rare, Like maybe a few times a month? It does it under normal driving conditions. I do also get some grind going into 3rd and 4th gears, this is very occasional and usually because I am wearing shoes that I can't feel anything in.
I don't normally need to double clutch or anything because I am not ordinarily shifting outside of any kind of normal operating parameter. I was wondering if I should even bother trying to have a stealership take a look at it, or if its just kinda a normal every now and then thing. I have always driven a manual tranny and never encountered this until the cobalt (these things are freaking picky as hell).
Also, anyone know what that funny clicking is up at the front of the car is? It didn't start doing it until recently. It kinda sounds like its the drive shaft at the tires. It does it on either side or both sides or sometimes never.
Any recommendations or help?
Thanks,
David

Anyone have any suggestions on my transmission issues? Maybe I'll get some hits tomorrow when people are bored at work. I didn't think the clicking was bad, just kinda annoying when starting and stopping with the windows down.
I'll make sure next time that I go into the dealership blind with out having any opinions and being at the mercy of GM because so I don't bother anyone on the problems and service board. This may be a newbie question or whatever but I'm a noob and just wanted some help.

Also the subtitle of this section reads: "Do you have problems with your new 2.0, 2.2, or 2.4L? What kind of service did you have done?"
