Trans / Clutch Clunking...
Trans / Clutch Clunking...
The best way I can explain it is driving around, accelerate to about 2250 rpms and take my foot off the gas, (with the car in gear) the car will obviously slow down a little, but it also makes this wierd, 'Thud', 'Clunk', 'Knock', Whatever sound. It some times also does it when I place the clutch all the way down after reversing...
Its been getting more common now. At first I just attributed it to being cold, but now it does it even after 20+ minutes of driving.
Any one have anything similar or any ideas what it could be?
Thanks,
Rich

I have a service appt on friday to replace my door trims (worn) and get a new replacement radio (paint is worn off some of the buttons)
If its still clunking then, Ill have them look at it.

It got really bad as I was driving home so I stopped by the chevy service center to ask their opinion. It almost sounds like it could be a motor or trans mount, or even worse, a axel bearring.
When I brought it in and told the tech it could be a mount, he said thats mostlikely the problem, theres even a TSB on the Trans Mount for the SS he said...
We'll see.

lol. I thought transfer cases were on 4wds onnly.
Its sucks though, because its definatly getting worse...
Feels like there is play in the gears... between idle (no gas) and gas...
Like "slack" that needs to be wound in before it can engage...
Sorry... its confusing as hell to explain, but the car IS in gear the whole time.
