Trans trouble

Havin trouble with the trans on my car. sometimes it will not go into first. i'll be sitting at a light and try to put in 1st and it won't go. sometimes if i put it in 2nd then move it back to 1st it will go. other times i have to jam it into 1st. similar problem at times when shifting into 4th and reverse. i've tried letting off the clutch and pressing it in then trying to shift and still no go. also have had it pop out of 5th. i've had some of the techs at dealership i work at look at it and one said its normal; the other changed the trans fluid and thinks it's a synchronizer issue. my service manager//boss is being a dick and keeps blowing me off. he contacted the chevy rep for our area and the first thing he asked is if i had the stage 2 kit installed...which i do but didn't tell them that. he wouldn't okay replacement-even though we have replaced others for the same problem before. he said he had to order tools from GM to teardown the trans and find the problem. i'm getting frustrated over this. my car is not even a year old yet; only 9,000 miles and i've had problems since day 1. i know my clutch is good and not slipping. i take it easy on my car for the most part. i don't race it, burn out or launch hard. have any of you all had similar problems with the shifting?

That sounds like a load of bs. any proper gm certified mechanic shop, not to mention a dealer( I'm assuming your at a gm dealer.) should have those tools on hand. I worked all summer in some little shop in pa and they had every tool you could ever need for working on all gm vehicals. In fact I watched a guy rebuild a tranny in the station behind me. imo it seems like since you work there the guys think you're playin the system and breakin your stuff jsut to get new things, which is wrong. I'm not to 5-speed savvy but I sure as heck don't see at all why a tranny woudl pop out of gear if it is working correctly.

transmission is subcontracted out to some german company that does the getrag. GM doesnt fix them, they just send them back. Just like the Eaton SuperChargers.

i think ur right. they don't want to be bothered with me. i am a chevy service advisor and i know for a fact we have replaced transmissions for the same problem at my shop. we don't have anyone to service transmissions; we normally just replace them

My SS does this as well, but so has every other manula car /motorcycle I have ever driven, the problem is that the 1st gear is so small on the SS. If you let off of the clutch and back on it should go right in, also have this when going into reverse.

You kow you have a problem if letting the clutch out and back in does not fix it, if you have to let the car drift a few inches to get it into gear then you have a problem.

tightening linkage cables gave it a "firm" feeling.... you may want to try that.

GM owns saab. They send the transmissions back to the subcontractor for getrag I assume.

The lsjs don't like 1st gear. Has been this way since day 1 with my redline.

they keep blowing me off with this. doesn't bother me though...thats an advantage of being a service writer; i'll write repair ordrers everyday untill im satisfied if i have to. the transmissions in these cars are shitty. we have an 06 s/c with a cracked trans case and we also have an 08 t/c that will not go into gear properly and no lift shift not working.

Maybe if I take off all the bowties the problems will go away
