ok when i am at the track or on the street racing and shift from 1st to 2nd it grinds trying to go to 2nd but it not even go in. i dont keep trying to put it in. when it does it i just push the clutch in for a little longer then it goes right in. but on everyday driving it shift into 2nd just fine. i dont know if it is the clutch or transmission. maybe i shifting to fast but i dont know.

So under normal shifting it's fine, but when racing it grinds and doesn't go it gear? Synchros wearing?

 

had the same problem with 5th gear 2 months ago, my cobalt is currently at the chev dealer for the same problem again but with 3rd gear this time, weak ass trannys

 

Synchros for sure. you will know this for sure if you drive it normally and your problem goes away. But if you are shifting quick, or racing and have that problem... they yes one of your synchros are going weak.
