Trouble Starting

2007 Cobalt SS S/C, 5 spd. with a hair over 61k miles.

Occasionally, my car will not immediately start. I'll turn the key and nothing. Accessories are getting power (radio works, headlights, etc.) There doesn't seem to be any specific way to duplicate it, as some days it will start without issue, on the first try. Yesterday, I picked my brother up and it started immediately. This morning, I had to move my car across the street due to the street cleaners coming through, and it took me 35 minutes to get it to start. It's as if I'm not even pushing the clutch in. I'm terrified that one day it simply won't start, and I have to move it at least once a day due to the street cleaners, except for Wednesdays and the weekend/holidays.
I'm comfortable pulling things apart to get stuff fixed, but talking to a more mechanically-inclined friend, he's told me that it could be the starter, the ignition, a crankshaft position sensor, or the clutch pressure switch. His work schedule doesn't really allow him the time to check it out, so I have to get this taken care of myself. I'd like to get a specific idea of what the problem is so that I know what I'm dealing with. Thanks!

This happens to me occasionally. Now, I have these billet aluminum pedal covers screwed on so sometimes, the sides might catch the footwell which might be the reason why. But for me, you just REALLY gotta push the clutch in. Even if you don't think it's going in, just push a little harder. In order to start the car, I'm pretty sure there is some sort of safety mechanism that prevents starting without the clutch all the way in. Even half an inch could make a difference. So just make sure your clutch Is ON THE FLOOR lol. Good luck, hope this helps.

Might want to check under the footwell that the clutch pedal position switch on the bottom (there's two on the clutch pedal, you want the one on the floor) is installed correctly. It should also have a bit of adjustment, try moving it up slightly.

Do you have any floormats in the car that aren't original and aren't secured properly? I've seen plenty of cases where a floormat slid up under the pedal and caused issues like you're seeing.
