Tune and Reflash Question

If you tune your pcm and reflash it back to stock can the dealer ever notice this? I know that if they find out they will void your warranty... but i wanna know because i have a stg2 right now... But i have a 2.9 i wanna put on and i will need a tune... but if i do this and something happens and i reflash back to stock then will the dealer be able to notice the reflash?

anyone?

yes, they can find it quite easily if they want to.
gm has even declared this in bulletins about aftermarket tuning.

does that mean bells and alarms go off if you go for an oil change?
no

but it means that if you have some kind of issue, and they decide to check out your pcm, they could use evidence of aftermarket tuning against you in a warranty denial.

its not like its an auto warranty denial....

generally if they check your PCM and all the parameters look like a GM tune, the likelyhood is that you will have no problem.

but you should be aware that if they really want to dig, they CAN detect aftermarket tuning.

thank all the idiots with diesels running those stupid "chips" and "programmers" for this.

Yep Anom is right , if you have a engine failure GM will dig . Even if flashed back to stock i read in a dealer world bulletin that they could check the flash history for dates of when it was flashed and so on.

The answer to your question is no. GM cannot go back into pcm histroy to find refalshes. The whole idea behind reflashes is a fresh start no history. That being said if you program your pcm with aftermarket programming...something goes wrong...you reflash and its still there...they wont be able to tell if the pcm was the problem

The way I understood it was, GM can look at how many times the car has been flashed and compare it to the count on the PCM. If the number of times a flash has been performed doesn't match then they can void your warranty. They can also compare any value in the tune to the tune on your car and if it doesn't match they can void your warranty.

^^ Also very true. You CAN run a 2.9 on the GM stage 2 tune and it should be fine.
