So today when i was driving home, i put the car into park and tried to turn the car off the key would only turn to acc and not into the lock position . I also notice the auto matic shifter wouldnt unclick either. so now my car is in park but not unclicked and the key won't turn into the lock position. any ideas ???

I already tried the thing under the steering wheel and that didnt work

 

grab the shifter firmly and pull up on it hard. it should release it but i guarantee its because of the shifter or just remove the shifter and put a aftermarket knob on

 

open the center console. on the shifter housing the there is a park release switch

 

What year and trim? Seems that the ignition cylinder is crapping out for a bunch of people (me included), though this is the first time I've heard of the shifter locking up.

 

my 1990 honda accord does that too when it's cold... the key is stuck in it... also the shifter locks itself in park sometimes... it's the shifter position indicator... when "P" isn't lit up it won't let the brake pedal switch release the shifter... as for the key getting stuck no idea.. i just fight with it until it lets go.. lol

at least you didn't get stuck in park at a drivethrough window haha man i was pissed... had to fight the shifter like a grizzly to get it unstuck so the people behind me could stop losing their mind haha
