Ventilation temp. changes from hot / cold automatically ...
Hi,
I'm starting a new thread cause my last one was becoming pretty exhausting and there was too much information on it. Basically, when i put my ventilation or a/c on at the coldest setting, when it's hot outside, i will get super hot air for like 10 minutes and then cold air for 2 minutes, and then back to hot air, without pressing anything. It happens by itself. When I say super hot air, I mean air coming straight from the engine bay pretty much.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem and what could be defective? The motor that control the gate opening was replaced and has not fixed the problem.
Thanks for advice because my local repair shop has no idea.

I remember someone else having this problem, BTW for those of you in town that I haven't seen in such a long time I'm sorry, between the army, school and work I have had little time for homework and less time for sleep, and now its summertime so its allllll good :-)
It is going to be something along the lines of a leak inside your system, have them add a dye to the A/C system and then you can spot the leak, considering it is a pressurized system, that would explain its ability to build up the pressure and operate normally and then blow out. Also check coolant temp on your car, make sure its not dashes...

I have an appointment at GM friday morning. I'll have them check my refrigerant level and check for any leaks. I'll tell them to put max 2 hours of diagnostic time so they don't try and find a problem for 8 hours.
My problem only seems to occur when it's really hot outside.

I brought the car to GM and my freon level was at 0.6 lbs when it should be at 0.9 lbs. It cost me $55 and they filled it up. I'll only see if it fixes the problem when it's hot outside again. Do you think that this level of freon could have caused hot air to come out when i put my a/c? Is there a minimum level where the system will not work?
They tested the system with a black light but didn't find the leak. They told me that it must be really small.

UPDATE : I have noticed that it is a problem with the temperature setting knob. When I pull the knob and turn a little, I suddenly get cold air. My GM delaer told me it could be a resistor or the potnetiometer. Do you guys know exactly what the part would be and if it is something I could change myself?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
