Question Void Warranty? HELP ASAP!

My cat. converter went bad. I still have a warranty on it. I have only done one mod to this car and it is a Rebel Auto Worx CAI. Will that void my warranty?

It shouldn't for an exhaust problem, but just swap the stocker back for the warranty work, and put the aftermarket intake back afterwards. Thats what i did and have never had my warranty voided for aftermarket CAI

shouldnt no, but they could link it with dealerism. If you got the stock box just swap it in.

They could say that the CAI is causing a fueling issue that plugged the CAT . It's an easy way for them to make 500 bucks instead of 100 that they would make off GM. Dollar amounts aren't exact but you see what im getting at.

so check this out. Took it to the dealer. they said the Cat. didn't cause the CEL. But it was Fuel Tank Evaporator Control. then they noticed the rattling. So my Cat is under warranty and the other piece isnt. My friends mechanic works at the shop and is going to do all of this for me. The cat is free but the other stuff isnt. But im happy. Also I got a good deal on tires. They came with the stock rims all for $700. tires are only a few months old too!

I have a 2007 with almost 46k miles on it. I think the person who owned it before me treated this car like ****. I'm just trying to get this car back to 100% top condition. **** is getting too expensive

My dealer would warrenty it but they're really cool about my mods. If your dealer's an ass they might come up with some bullshit.

That's why I don't buy used, unless the dealer I bought it from has ALL the previous service records.

how is a free cat and then a fuel tank evap expensive? You bought a used car out of warranty of B2B, but STILL have a powertrain warranty. How do you know for sure the fuel evap is bad?

I thought the EVAP was part of the emission system ? Which has a longer warranty than the 3/36K bumper to bumper .......I would call GM and see what they say .

The fuel EVAP isn't under warranty. That is what threw the CEL. not the Cat. converter. they noticed the Cat. converter after I pointed out that it is rattling pretty bad. The fuel EVAP went out of warranty at 36k miles.

Emissions systems ie cel's are usually covered under a secret emissions warranty thats usually not talked about. Hence why rukkee brought this up. If a cel throws it could be a covered part. I tried googling quick and didnt find anything for gm..

Ahh here is something
http://www.epa.gov/oms/consumer/warr95fs.txt
see emission warranties are totally separate and you "could" be covered.
