So my 08 cobalt with 26k miles when shifting (ie pushing clutch in and pushing lever out of gear and upshift) as soon as i push the clutch in and push the gear out its squeeks....litterally squeeks loud as hell. it does not do it all the time mostly when im in high rpms shifting....

i was thinking trans mounts or engine mounts, how do i test them? and is there anything else it could be? any other test i can preform to help narrow it?

another note: when we were at national trails raceway i was staging and my buddy dave said after my tires stopped my body shifted forward a bit.... idk if its accurate but if that helps at all

 

your front suspension compressed when brakes where applied due to weight transfer making the body look like it moved forward, that's my explanation for that one, as far as the squeak I don't know, take it in and tell the dealer about it, maybe they need to grease or adjust something, I know my clutch pedal is squeaks sometimes but not too loud, don't know if it's the spring making the noise, haven't really looked into it

 

i hear the same thing on mine...do u hear it on start up also?

 

no not on startup, my car is lowered and i took it to the stealership they said they wont look into it due to my "mods" .... ******* lame i know but whatever i looked and i dont see any grease zerts idk ill look more into when the weather gets better if its not getting better.

 

actually my car started doing some sort of noise when i increase my rpms, looks like this sounds familiar to all of us, i was wondering if it is my exhaust though. It sounds really bad. People ask me if i have a truck engine inside :S

i think i lost some hp, or meaby it just me i dont like to hear that so i wont push it like i used to :S

still, if i dont get that fix ill be gething a ticket soon cus they gona think is the exhaust.

i dont hear it all the time but when i do hear it it squeeks when it fires up and sometimes when the clutch is applied

 

does it do it when you stop / transfer weight? if so could be your shocks...I think thats it because we had to replace these on my bros car and it was squeeking loud as hell. but if its like a engine squeek then I dont know what the hell it is.

i think it might be cuz i hear it when i hit bumps but i dont see how it will squeek when im parked.

 

My clutch slave cylinder sqeeks alot of the time. Depress the clutch a few times at a stand still. If it sqeeks you know what it is then!
