Never say its because of the cold air that makes no sense and do you have proof?

Our SS/SC has done this a few times when I've really gotten on it. I've had it pure ass die on me before, had to let it set for a minute then restart it.

I just chalked it up to overactive fuel cutoff at redline..

Um no actually proof..But my thinkin is that with the air being colder(denser) is has to do with the timing and what not...Anything above 40* and it never does it...really not a huge issue i think.

I'm driving around here in super sub-zero temperatures (as are my friends with the SS SC) and none of us run into this when getting hard on it even when there's ice building up on the grills .

Did the DIC report power reduced or give you any visual indication the chip picked up something out of the ordinary? DarkSergeant's thought makes sense, particularly if the engine temporarily flooded or somehow became starved for fuel.

You were just about to hit the rev limiter, or you did hit the rev limiter. Because that sounds like normal fuel cutoff to me lol.

Sometimes the tachometer is "behind" the actual engine speed. If your cutoff is at 6500 it is possible to hit 6400 and maybe even 6300 on the tach but the engine speed actually be at 6500 and then fuel cut off. Of course, once you reduce speed the fuel cut off should go away. The only way to know for sure what would be going on would be to trya nd get some logs when it happens and see if one of the injectors maybe causing a problem, whether the car is actually hitting fuel cutoff, or if you are getting knock or any other multiple issues.

I can say, I have never had my car do anything like this unless I accidently hit the rev limiter. As soon as I shift the car drives fine though...

Was the car in normal operating temperatures? I've had this happen once...I didnt let my car warm up properly and that was the result I got for getting on it in cold weather. Its pretty much a no no.
