that oil light only comes on when there is less than 15psi of oil pressure. It does not detect oil levels in the pan.

I retract my previous statement about your likelihood of a warranty. Being GM, they will probably deny based on abuse from driving w/o oil, Even though you would have no indication of oil loss until something catastrophic happens, technically it is your responsibility to make sure theres oil in it. I guess we have to start checking our oil levels before each time we drive

Noty sure if anyone mentioned this....It's 3 years or 36,000 miles WHICHEVER comes first. You can have a 4 year old car with 15,000 miles and it's out of warr.

In order for their to be 15psi of oil pressure,
there must be enough oil for hte oil pump to circulate.
If youve got 15psi oil pressure, you have lubrication
dont yoU? If therse a point where thers not enough
oil to circulate arround in the engine, im sure the oil
press would drop then, so maybe the pressure switch
being set at 15 is set too low? or mabe the pressure
switch in that vehical was malfnctioned?

Most likely it has to be below 15 psi for a certain period of time. Most likely he lost oil pressure when cornering but had enough oil for the pick up when in a straight line. He may also have missed the oil light if it was intermittent oil pressure.

Point of the matter is, you drove the car with very low oil in it. Why should a warranty cover your **** up?

People that scream warranty over their own negligence are the very people who corrupt the car industry.

thats it? only those people corrupt the auto industry? pretty vague statement.

your trying to say that people should be punished for expecting their car to do what it's supposed to between regular maintenance checks? thats like saying people who have health problems are at fault for getting sick... alot of times you dont know something is wrong until you get a CEL or indication.

**** happens. i burned up all the oil in my engine in the matter of 3 days, granted i paid out of my pocket to fix it, but i did regular maintenance and checked my oil every other time i filled my car up.

i doubt a statement like yours is relevent as to why the auto industry is having hardships.
