Whirring/Whining Noise

Hello All,

I have had this issue all winter but did not realize it until I put my summer tires on as I thought it was just loud winter tires. It sounds like I have mud tires on. Any ideas? Wheel bearing?

Thanks

More info would help: Does the sound exist while stoped or while in motion? Does the sound change in pitch or intensity depending on speed, RPM, or turning?

wheel bearings. mine went out at 180k and 210k kms. sounds like a semi on the highway. you will be amazed at how quiet the ride is when that humming/rumbling is gone.

jack car up, take tires off and turn each side by hand, i could feel the bad bearing both times no problem.

Doesn't happen while stopped, only in motion. Intensifies at higher speed.

Think so?

If you can turn at speed and it goes away when turning in one direction only, this could also be an indication of a bad bearing. Or it could be a CV joint. Does it change sound when you hit bumps?

Haven't really hit any big bumps.

It also occurs on dips in the road or anything that would change the angle of the shaft while being driven. Odds are if you haven't noticed it made changes in sound already, it probably is just a bearing.
