Whistling Noise WOT

I have heard a whislting noise at WOT in the upper RPM range. Almost sounds like a loose vac line but all lines are tight no cracks no nothing. Just wondering if anybody else has heard this on their balts Oh yeah by the way 2.2 auto.

IF you have a a garage or other enclosed area where you'd feel comfortable doing so, you could try removing the air intake and seeing if the whistle persists.

I'm guessing you've tried having someone else rev the car while you stand over the engine to see if you can determine it's location or does it only happen while DRIVING at WOT?

Could also be this...

Ha Ha no its not a whistle tip. Yes I've listened outside the car and it doesn't do it. It seems to be only when under a load.

Could be an exhaust leak?

"Yeeeah I got it on my car" that's a hell of a way to get it keyed.

On-topic though, my cousin's 2.4 had a whistle with the stock airbox. I couldn't diagnose it, but after pulling it and replacing it, it disappeared. He's since gone to a K&N intake and it came back with a loose clamp. Only at WOT seems strange though, you should be able to hear it before then.

There have been alot of issues caused by dirty throttle bodies on the cobalts it seems. Might aswell clean it out for the hell of it

Whistling from your exhaust points to a bad cat. Dealer time.

that only fixes idle and code issues.

Well if its the exhaust or the cat the dealer can't do much for me. My warranty went out the window a while ago. The only thing I have left is the power train warranty cuz as of yesterday my balt has 48,000 miles on her. I did notice the one time I took the air intake off to take measurements to make my own and put the stock one back on it went away for like an hour or two. Maybe I'll just tighten the heck out of the clamps and see what happens.
