window switch panels... under warranty?
had a guy come into the shop today... he has a Cobalt LS... some mild mods... we shot the **** talked about cobalts and what not...
he asked me if my sunroof switch fell off yet.... yet?? i said no..
then he asked about the silver paneling around the window/lock switches chipping/scratches... i said yes..
he said the dealership will cover that under warranty. In his car, there were a few paint chips and they covered it.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

this is an issue i have been getting the run around on for a long time. My window switch panels are awful, the leather is coming out and most of the paint is scratched off. When i went to get other warranty work done, they told me they would not cover that. I called gm to find out if the recall thing i got in the mail is really for ss's or just the sedans and i was told my car DOES have to get this recall taken care of. I also told the rep how bad the panels were and he told me it is deffinitely covered under warranty. This is why gm is going down the tubes. The customer service at any chevrolet dealership around is awful yet GM states the complete opposite of what i was told by 3 dealerships... Sorry i have been waiting to rant about this one for awile.

i work in service at a dealership and can say i, personally, have replaced those switches under warranty multiple times. you get a 3yr/36 mile bumper to bumper warranty on the car and that includes that panel peeling off. im gonna be doing my own here soon, just waiting for a little more to peel off cause im sure its gonna be a reoccuring problem and dont wanna keep doing it for every little chip. i also just replaced someones sunroof switch panel under warranty yesterday cause it fell off. you guys must just have some shitty dealers around you cause i rarely see people getting denied in situations like this.

well moreso.. im asking how do they know it isnt user error??? maybe my GF's ring scraping against it.. or an animal in the car sticking its head out the window scratching it..
im just trying to make sure of things before i go into warranty work....
they say stage 2 is under warranty, but 90% of the people on this site are getting "driver abuse, warranty declined" so im not sure what is what these days with chevy dealerships

PW Switch bezels
I had both of mine replaced today at the local dealership (Alleghany Motors Covington, Va. ) with no questions asked.i just signed the work order. They performed the foam installation for the impact recall, replaced my driver's door panel, the driver's side door pull handle (the chrome was peeling), and both power window switch bezels in about two hours time. I see where there has been an upgrade to the old bezels fit and finish. The door panel cloth opening was cut too large and showed from under the bezels. The new bezels have an extra black base to make up for the die cut problem. Kudos to my dealership.

The silver trim piece is part # 15927322. You'll be happy to know that this trim piece is not exactly like the original - this one doesn't scratch at all, and it's cut a little different around but only a picky person (like me - or you?) would notice. I suggest maybe scratching up the other trim piece too and getting that one replaced to have them both match exactly. If they give you a hard time show them how easily it scratches and then they'll clam up

I've had my trim, both on the door and the sunroof switch replaced twice under warranty. Now that I am officially past the warranty period, am waiting for the sunroof switch to fall off again.
Is there any difference with the new sunroof switch bezel vs. the old one that keeps falling off? Maybe a better design? My dealer couldn't answer that for me. If all there doing is putting up another piece with the same crappy plastic tabs then I'm going to be pissed.
