XM/GM Tech Question

So, the dealer managed to break my CD player while it was in the shop. They have to order a new one. I have XM and I'm subscribed right now, and all I know about XM is that it works by satellite and your subscription is based on your radio ID.

Will a new radio change my ID, thus disabling my XM service or is the ID stored somewhere else on my car?

Worst case scenario, your ID changes, but I would think the dealer should take care of transferring the service for you.

no it will not disable your XM. All you have to do is call and change the service to the new radio ID. They will probably do that for you also. No worries.

yup. Your radio ID will change. But your service will not.

Most likely it will, unless there's some Tech2 parameter that will allow them to assign it a radio ID that's the same as your old one. If not, it's a super-easy 5 minute process to switch. You just call, give them your new ID (write down your old one just in case) and it's done.

I would imagine though that the dealership will automatically take care of it for you though.
