Fuel Pump?

now ive read that there is a recall on the fuel pumps, ive the last 4 to 5 days been able to smell gasoline when i would come near my car after parkin for awhile. then id get in it. and it will turn over turn over turn over turn over turn over and then fire. but if i turn to car on but not the engine for like 5 seconds the car fired right up. so im assuming after reading all the recall things that this problem with my car is in fact the fuel pump. it makes sense. not to mention that when i start the car i hear a noise that sounds like wiper blades rubbing against a dry winshield. the noise comes from the back seat it seems like. ironically around the area where the fuel pump is. i just want some people who have experience with this to just confirm my assumption here. or even maybe disagree and explain waht else it may be. i plan on taking it to the dealer maybe tomarrow. please help guys.

g dammit. alright well the dealer wont do it for me. and i am NOT going through them for it so f that. i can do it myself but my only question is. does anyone know how to get to the fuel pump? is there a way to it without taking down the gas tank?... and has anyone ever used the zzp fuel pumps? there is the dual fuel pump which is like 450 dollars and then there is the stealth fuel pump which is 180 dollars. im wondering if anyone has used the stealth fuel pump off of zzp. because im wondering if that one is worth spending that much money on. or if anyone knows of any fuel pumps that are good and worth buying let me know. again any help will be great. thank u everyone.

SO! i lifted my car up on a lift at work on saturday and started it. holy ****. the car is PISSING gas. i need this fuel pump replaced like.. now. but its a freakin recall. i called chevy in town and they say there is no fuel pump recall. so then i called the gm headquarters, they say the exact same thing. so im confused. should i call and argue this more. im not paying for it when its clearly a bad part.

Did the dealer check your vin for any recall on the car. If not, have to replace on your own. On my old cavy I cut out part of the body to get to the pump on top without dropping the tank. Made a plate to cover(like subies). Going to do on my ss when the pump is goin'

ya they checked my vin. but im not paying for a part that is clearly a defective part... this recall makes no sense. im not paying. im going to them tomarrow and slapping a big stack of printouts of the recall info in front of them. they will fix it ha.

Did they take care of it for you? I am also out of CT and I am experiencing the same problem with my 06 2.4l. I am also looking at a fuel pump out of a 06 lsj on ebay, any idea if this will work in my car?

well, i printed out atleast 10 different website articles about it and walked in the door nice at first to a dealer ive never been to and havent spent a cent at. walked in and asked if they could do it even tho it isnt a recall here and they said that it isnt a recall in theyre system at all. so i was like wtf. well heres a shitload of printouts from online, and they looked at them dumbfounded haha and said ooookkkk well let me talk to my boss. the boss wasnt there so i wound up talking to the shop foreman (lead tech), and he was very nice about it. said he'd do it and its not a problem but he couldnt do it for completely free. i had to pay for the part but not labor. so i didnt argue. i said alright thats fine. 140$ or so, and it was done. it took about a week for them to get it in and done tho. annoying. but id say for u. IF it is also included on the 2.4L then do wat i did. and if u cant find anything about it for the 2.4L then u might be kinda screwed haha. if i couldnt get them to do it i wouldve been doing it myself anyway. so either way i was paying for the part. mild as well have them put it in

hey my car is having the long wait for start issue when it hasn't been running for a while, i think its my fuel pump. it doesn't seem like a hard swap so i'll just do it myself but i'm wondering: if i buy an aftermarket pump like vvvv will i need to tune to make it work?

No tune needed, the injectors control how much fuel goes into the engine.
