Exclamation Powder Coat or Paint?

I want to paint/powder coat my rims, and all my badges...
So I've been reading around, and people are saying that powder coating is the more expensive, but better way to go? Can someone give me the pro/cons of powder coating vs painting?
What's the price I'll be looking at?

I vote pain. Best way, punch the wheel. Lots of pain.

All paint chips. Powdercoat looks great. But more $$. Use proper prep. Paint, and clear coat. Will look good.

I would powder coat. I painted my rims and it looks ok but the powder last longer and looks better. powder coating is about 40 a rim.

i think the price to powder coat will vary b/c i've seen a lot of people who have been quoted anywhere from 40 (obviously) to around 100 per wheel...so i'd go get a few quotes if i were you before i make a decision
Oh and btw OP, does your "T" key on your computer work?

Haha dude I was up pretty late last night and I didn't even notice that..
Thanks lol.

I've called a few places here in Tacoma, Wa, and the cheapest I found was $55 per rim.
That's cheap, compared to like 5 other places that I've called. They charge $90-100 per rim.

you dont need to fulllly sand the rims just scuff them up with a scotch bright pad decently good so the surface has scratchs and then clean reallllllly good and spray some primer get good 2 coat and paint and bam no need for 2 hours to just sand

If you are painting yourself, I stress PREP. Make sure it's perfect. Sand, prime, paint, clear. If one step gets half fasted, it WILL look like ****. Take your time, do it perfect. Then it will be worth it.

40 a rim is the going rate, and it will look alot better and last alot longer as well.

Some information that may help you decide between the two options

Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. The coating is typically applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin". The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.
