08 Cobalt SS wins in SCCA D Stock

The Cobalt SSTC won 1st, 2nd, and 4th in SCCA D Stock at Packwood, WA Solo National Tour Aug 16 and 17, 2008.

Other cars in the class included the Mazda MS3, VW R32, and Subaru WRX.

Looks like the Cobalt SSTC might be a very competitive car in SCCA D Stock autocrossing. I like it's chances at the upcoming Tire Rack Solo National Championship in Topeka, KS in Sept.

Looks like Chevy got the package right this time. Go Cobalts!

Well...I'm going to be there in the SC SS... as well as Fastmike bringing his TC car.

I'll have a full report from Topeka that week.

There wasn't teh BMW 135 at Packwood, so we'll see. Fienberger wasn't there in his ITR either.. he's a good call for the title, but I think The SS TC has a good shot.

Stay posted

Yeah Baby! That's right! a FWD Cobalt SS/TC beating AWD cars like the R32, WRX, and the devil's own Mazdaspeed 3! Driver skill helps too!

If I purchase a SS/TC after my SS/SC goes back, I'll be doing autocross in it for sure!

What did you do to the SS to be thrown in STU???

Everything I've seen done at best throws them into STX... not questioning it... just curious.

Topeka and nothign to do??? I found plenty to do the week I was there for nats last year. Plenty of entertainment...

Since this will be the last year @ HPT, I will have to make this one count.

Quick question. Don't mean to thread hi-jack but since we're on the topic...

What's allowed to run in D stock class?
I've ran my SS/SC in quite a few autocross events when I first got it but it's completely stock. I think I ran in D stock tire class...

But for stock class...

Rear sway bars?
Front end links?
lighter rims?
Koni adjustable shocks?
stickier tires?

Yeah I know that. I was just joking when I said the Devil's own MS3, (knowing it's FWD & very quick) But I guess that wasn't too clear.

The Integra is still king in D. May be if the SS at national uses Hoosier's, he might fair a bit better.
