Angry 2005 Black SS Supercharged Paint

Hi everybody. I am kind of an old guy, 41, I collect cars for a hobby (work hard play hard) I have in my garage a 2004 Rx8, Volkswagen R32, and a regular Cobalt Lt to tow behind my motorhome. I bought the SS from a dealer 300 miles away sight unseen. I asked about how the paint was taken care of and was told (we hand wash and treat them with tender loving care. So Saturday I take delivery meeting them halfway (each drove 150 miles) They drove through endless rain storms so when the car arrived it was covered with the usual dirt and grime and it was still raining. I get the car home, give it a tender loving wash and was shocked when I got to see the paint. Scratches, Swirls, white ghosting under the actual paint as if moisture got under the clear coat, the back SS logo was hanging off the car, thre are these white imperfections in the paint that will not come out with 6 hours worth of clay bar treatment and a full Zano brothers wax and polish treatment. Needless to say I am pissed. I am wondering if you were me would you ask the dealer to take the car back? Can I actually legally do this? Any advise would be wonderful. I love the performance of the car, I just can't handle the paint. I look at the black paint on our black cobalt Lt and it is beautiful.

Thanks
Steve

try what you can do to return that car, call dealer, complain, call Gm, complain, even try to get them to paint the car, or for them to come look at it...... dont know what else should do, but i wouldnt put up with that, something must be done

They'll probably have the whole car repainted under warrenty. I had my hood painted twice under warrenty because of defects.

Just wondering how GM defines "defects" in the paint. I have two stone chips already on my SS, which I know are not defects, but I thought this paint was supposed to resist chipping. My problem comes with what's happening now. I ran my finger (NOT fingernail) over the spots to make sure they were in fact chips and the paint around them just crumbled off. Anyone else have this happen? Is the paint really that brittle? I'm pissed that I have the chips, but I'm even more pissed that the paint is doing this.

flyboy, I would do anything and everything it takes for them to fix your paint. That's uncalled for in a BRAND new car. Like someone else said, call the dealer, call GM, whatever it takes man.

Have you decided to sell your car? Is it true that your wife can't drive a stick?

Sure seems to be, I'm not trying to bash flyboy but it sure seems funny that he's using the excuse that his wife refuses to drive it because it a stick. After all the complaning about the paint I like this part the best '" As with Black Paint there are a few swirls and scratches but that is black paint for you. ". From what flyboy has posted about the dealer salesman I hope he'll be honest to the new buyer..good luck with the sale.

No, if you look in the classifieds forum on here it's a different guy with a black SS. He posted on there too, it's not flyboy.

I thought the same thing, they could very well be different people. It just seemed kinda of funny that both cars are black, have scratches & swirl marks, low mileage ( both with about 400 miles ), flyboy spelled Zano the same way as the one on e-bay ( correct spelling is Zaino ) and are both from Aberdeen, South Dakota....I did notice one thread was signed Steve while the other one is signed Gary. Best of luck to both.

I beleive they had a GM rep at the shop that day and he looked at my car and approved the hood to be painted under warrenty. I had dark spots on the hood, and a layer of paint on the roof that was too thin.
