$150? That's ridiculous. Hope your clutch didn't get soaked. Still think you need to get a cryo heat treated trans for the bigger turbo with how many passes that car is going to see.

Let me know if you want a reinforced bellhousing for your build. Definitely sounds like you cracked the bell housing pinion loop which means the output shaft is moving away from input shaft and diff gear. The reinforced bell housing will prevent this. When this happened to my trans, it also busted 1st gear synchro and chewed up the output shaft. Worst part is when that trans fluid absorbs into clutch disc as Ray mentioned. It needs replaced or new disc pads unfortunately. And 150$ for a 4.05 LSD HOLY CRAP! Cheaper than the F23 open diff

PLEASE post a picture of where it broke if you don't mind.

I'm surprised you haven't come up with a quick change setup for some of your stuff as much as you are under the hood.
I pulled motors and trans so much in the nova that I installed a bunch of ball valves so I didn't have to drain/lose fluid every time I did work.

Got the transmission out today. Case is cracked . Whatever caused it to crack I have no clue. This was a used non LSD 4.05 trans that I had with already 120k miles on it.

DO NOT LAUNCH ON SLICKS WITH A NON LSD TRANS . Lol

New trans

New trans!

Cracked to the left of the bellhousing.

If anyone will find out the weak point it would be you at the track on slicks. You never know what shape it was in before you through it in.
Would love to start with new everything.

Well right now I'm just waiting on parts. Transmission is all cleaned up and ready to go in.

Ordered a new gmpp clutch from CED, clutch pipe, tob, axle seals, and trans fluid. Found some on eBay for 20$ a quart!

Started installing it and the new transmission around 10am, finished up around 1pm. This transmission is very smooth and makes no winding noise's at all.

Can't wait to see how your car does with this setup. Sorry to see your brother bailing on the platform for the easy rwd life.

Idk if he is yet or not, having a weird problem controlling the maf frequency with the zfr.

What turbo did you wind up choosing with the HAHN kit?

Also would love to know how you're dropping/installing the trans so quickly! LOL

Asking for a friend.... Who is pulling the trans from a certain wrecked car as a spare...

I went with the 5858CEA

I just start up top and remove everything that I can before I jack the car up, then remove everything that needs to come out to take the subframe out, then starter comes out, then bottom bellhousing bolts and it's out.

UPDATE!!!!

Today I got off of work early,so I decided to start on the Hahn racecraft turbo upgrade.

Also since the stock turbo is on its last leg,it's the perfect time.

I'm about 75% done with the install.

Tomorrow all I have to do is put the o2 housing, wastegate, and downpipe on, run 3 vacuum lines, install maf into lower cp, and hook the oil lines up.

I must say, the kit goes in fairly well, I have no complaints. The firewall was given ana torture adjustment via ball peen hammer tho to clear the turbo haha.

If anyone else installs this kit, you can assemble the manifold and downpipe adapters both to the turbo before putting it in the car, it makes like much easier.

Here are a few pictures .

Nice! Are you worried at all about pulling in hot air from down around the motor to supply it to the turbo? Probably won't be bad once you get going, but off idle it maybe high.
I wouldn't drive down a dusty road either as I'm sure dust and grit wouldn't be good for that compressor wheel. Looks good!

Nah I'm not worried about it, has to go through the intercooler anyways .

UPDATE!

Finished up tonight! Took my time on it today and made sure everything was perfect!

Overall, the Hahn kit works great, and fitment was awesome. 2 bolts where hard to get to, but still manageable.

The only thing I had trouble with is figuring out the best way to clock the turbine and compressor size to line up clearanc for the oil feed and drains, and also for the upper charge pipe to connect.

As you will see in the picture, it sits a little crooked, but I plan on changing that out for a better one soon.

I'm pretty sure I'm the first LNF in the country with Hahn's new setup on their car and running! Ready to start tuning on this basemap and make some power!
