New HID/Exterior LED pics!!

Here are pics of my 8000k hids from user Uneek! They are hella sweet and look so good and light up the road so fine!

after

before with 7000k fake hid bulbs.

after

this picture i took as another car was passing by, i kept the shutter open long for a sweet ass effect and shows how white the lights are compared to stock halogen.

in this pic you can see how my led turn signals work, they illuminate in 5 directions (straight out, up, down, left, and right. The blink instantly and don't have to brighten up like conventional bulbs.

this is just a pick of my halogen 7000k superwhite bulbs in my fog lamp, i turn em on all the time just for looks cuz they don't really illuminate the road anymore after installing the hid kit.

Me too. One of the guys from my local saturn club had a 6000K McCullough kit installed, and 2 weeks later was pulled over for it. I did try to warn him about the dangers of putting in an HID kit, but he thought it was such a good deal, that I was dumb for thinking the way i did.

If you do get pulled over what can they say / do?

Wikky do you have the 8000 Kit?

cobaltsslvr do they light up the road well?

cobaltsslvr can you link me direct to the bulbs you bought? Did you have to do any modifying of the bulb or socket to get the bulb to fit? (parking light)

i have the 6000k, and i think cops aroundhere dont realize that cobalts dont come with HID's so they have no idea, plus mine dont really aim up into other drivers, ive seen my car without being in it, they arent as bad as everyone make them sound, ive never had anyone flash their brights at me or anything

I think the nose of our car points downward. The way the bulb sits in the headlight and the thing infront of the bulb I think helps keep them from pointing up. It really only allows light to go one way.

I am torn between the 6000 and the 8000 kit. I do want blue. I do want HID. I dont want pulled over.

I know a dark blue would probably be reason enough for a cop to pull you over. I dont know how dark 8000K would be considered. I wish I could see 8000 and 6000 in person. I guess I want my car to look like it came from the factory with HID's so I guess I will be going with the 6000 kit because it will be less blue and wont be a red flag to police.....

Either way, catch a cop on a semi-bad day, and your toast. The reflectors in your STOCK HALOGEN housing allow too much light to be transmitted sideways. Sure it didn't matter with halogens since they simply weren't bright enough to glare anyone, but HIDs are brighter, so much so, that when you put an HID kit into a housing not designed for it, people will notice. Just don't drive behind cops and hope they don't notice you during oncoming traffic.

Then either your lucky, or my friend was wrongfully ticketed and might have had a case to fight it.

Well, I just got off the phone with the LAPD Northeast Station (213) 485-2548 and confirmed with their traffic division that aftermarket HID's are not illegal around here.

What I recommend you do, if you have any doubts about it, is call your local police station and just ask them like I just did.

Honestly though, I think a cop would be a little more interested in a loud exhaust, race headers, and other illegal aftermarket upgrades.

Im sure that people that get pulled over by cops for headlight issues are far an few in between.
