Welcome to our newest member, ACM

And this is AFTER they did an update and deleted a bunch of posts, threads, and members! And I can't think of a single crash since I have been on that which is now 5-6 years!

I'd be happy to help volunteer some sysadmin/engineering time on weekends or nights. I've scaled out sites to handle over 1000 searches/sec, and managed over 1500 hosts. This poor little site needs some help.

I'd prefer to see the site improve before Cobalt SS are just so unpopular that the lack of traffic keeps the problems from being exposed. I spend a lot of time here, so it's only fair to try to pitch in (aside from already paying to be a premium member).

I'm guessing the issues are related to bandwidth maxing out on the host server...

Possibly even multiple sites being on the same server - requiring max bandwidth allocation...

or something to that effect.

Maxing out the bandwidth does not cause the database to crash.

but from what I understand, what we see isn't actually a crash - more over a freeze up.

hense:

crashes generally have negative repercussions - I haven't observed any...

I get error messages and slow loading times daily. Does anyone else have issues with the site logging you out after about 10- maybe 15 minutes? It's really annoying having to log in all the time.

The site has either froze, or crashed about 10-15 times today alone... which seems like alot even for this site

If it's the bandwidth of the memory or proc it can, but yes here we are referring to internet gateway and that cannot. That will cause a 500 error or page cannot be displayed.

I have been researching these symptoms and have some ideas but until I can actually see results that means squat.

I never get logged out. Do you not have the "remember me" box checked?

I get the database error alot..usually when it starts to get slow. However, only when I search does it actually go slow. I can usually browse forums fine..but If I go to search or my posts..it starts taking forever.

Maybe if people trolled less the site would be less chaotic?

I personally posted TWICE trying to have a logical discussion about simply being happy w/ my purchase of a crown vic police car and got bashed. All it took was to point out that i'm going to be faster than some of these guys and wow did i get hammered. Its amazing how many people can think a cobalt is a race car.
