Recruit Moderators

I want to say that before people jump to harsh posts I want everyone to understand that this thread is not meant to bash our current moderators. For the past few months I have been seeing a shortage in active moderators. I have been on these forums for a good amount of time now and the most I ever see is Black and JonyyB. But we also have plenty more moderators that are constantly in the dark. Most of which i have never seen post before. I for one have a hard time to get Moderators to reply to my PM's. I often times have to play PM tag back and forth. I just think its time we clean the house up a little bit and revamp these forums. Lets get some more activity or get different moderators! After all, how can this site be moderated without someone moderating it?

Again, this is not a bash. I just feel that this forum can grow with some activity and new ideas.

Opinions?

new mods would be a good idea, as the current ones aren't very active.

I completely agree, no bashing but I think we could benifit from new/more mods. I'm sure there's more going on behind the scenes too that the majority of us haven't seen or heard about. As well as some people that are willing to put effort into a specific forum's development, how ever they define that word for that forum (or more than one forum, you get the idea :P)

We dont want to many cooks in the kitchen but we need more cooks that still...can't live without cobaltss.net lol.

We need mods who are more active and actually know how to run a forum.

I've been here for 5 years lol. I have seen my fair share come and go. Heck I still remember one of the first mods Halfcent, RedCavy99, etc.

Does it qualify me lol

BTW: I remember a posting not to ask to become a mod, just a fyi for everyone

Time nor post amount has anything to do with it. You have to have qualifications from running other forums IMO.

I'd like to see there qualifications...

Having co-owned and been a main administrator for creative-draft.com, I know how to pick mods based off of applications.

well you can have mods up the butt and it still wont matter.

from my childhood, I remember the old gameshark forums which used IGNs system for quite some time had a system like

admin
super mod
mod
vip

This forum needs changes from the bottom to the top....

I only see REIGN SS and Black.... jonyyb is online but yet never responds to PMs and what not.

I have been around quite sometime... seen changes.... seen things get worst... seen somethings get better...

But heck what do I know

Moderators have to know how to keep there opinions out of there decisions and how to make decisions based solely off of rules, not what they think.

90% of this forum could not handle that. Mod's have to have knowledge. They have to know a good amount about the platform and engines. Members look up to moderators for advice, so you can not have a moderator posting a lot of misinformation.

Mods need to answer all PM's and reported problems in a timely manner. Which can be much harder then it sounds when you can easily get 100's of PM's in one day, espeically from a site of this caliber.

Lastly mods don't need be active in posting as much as just active in viewing and reading threads. Just because a mod doesn't post, doesn't mean they're not patrolling.

What we really need are mods designated to specific forums. A new mod or two for the forum as a whole couldn't hurt either.

Speaking of which my IP address (which is all of Pope AFB) at work has been banned for 3 years now due to some guys with Evos who i used to work with that now are PCSed to another base. I have sent many messages explaining this but not reply. I dont see how you can block an IP address and just leave it blocked forever. I have been around here for a while as well!

^ well I agree with mod for every category....

ie South Mountain and south pacific would have different mods

but I disagree, everyone should be entitled to their opinion and mods are no exception but in the bottom line is the mod needs to use forum rules

as far as pms go, thats where like a vip for example would come in handy with site problems/issues whereas this would leave mods to the threads themselves

Honestly, I don't think there's enough people who could even handle individual forums or even just PM's.

Yes. Once you come from running a forum, you'll understand. And spreading the work load is what I'm talking about. More mods that have designated forums they should be running.
