I'll know for sure by the beggining of October as far as the Tail of the Dragon meet goes if I'm going. Like I said I'll keep the cottage reserved and we can talk about it again then and see what exactly is going on and whether or not we want to still go.

what about the race in Talladega? I haven't been to a NASCAR race in years, but tickets are cheap as **** now... it's in October, and the races are actually entertaining if you've never been to one, even if you don't really like NASCAR... myself, i'm not a huge NASCAR fan by any means, but I used to love going to Dega

 

My Gf lives so close the jets fly over her house and u can still read the bottoms of them. I wouldn't have time to go to the race but I would be down to meet yall

the dragon isnt that bad...it could be bad if some one decides to **** up but its something every enthusiast should do once in there life...

 

just sucks cause we would have to take the slobalt.....i want to put the altima on it...but somethings still just quite not right...power band is very sketchy...sometimes it haul's ass....sometimes it doesnt want to go up a hill...

Well a group of us from Bama could go up to the Tail of the Dragon on our own. Those cottages have 3 rooms in them. If we got about 6-8 peps we could rent out 2 cottages for a weekend.

A BBQ at someone's house, state park or similar could be fun.
A meet at a bigger car show or something would be cool, could always go some where afterwards.

My only problem with going to the drag strip at Steele is the drag strip starts in the evening, don't get over till later, then some of us would have 1-2 hr drive home.

So I think we either need something that starts earlier or something that involves staying over in a hotel.

 

thats the fun of the track....the ride there and back....

its almost an hour drive for me...but i try to get every other weekend for real...fishing/heat has really killed my desire to go here lately though...

im down with a bbq or whatever..i go to nopi every year and its at the atlanta motor speedway....normally in september (have to double check before i start trying to get a carravan going) but thats one option...

yeah Paul I like the small group at the dragon idea better myself... 6-8 people would be the idea size as well... I still want to go, I just don't want to get spun out in a curve by some moron....or come around a blind corner into a 10 car pileup because of their little fwd understeer drift race bull ****

i'm not saying go up there and do 15 mph, I am saying 25-35mph is PLENTY fast enough, especially if you do not know the road... hell i've been on it a couple of times and I STILL don't know the road enough to trust it... most of those guys have never even been in North Carolina, lol... and going to fast for the road while not knowing it and you can quickly cause several thousands worth of damage or get yourself or someone else killed

as I said in the other topic, I don't think a lot of people know what they are getting into up there... no doubt the Dragon is one of the most popular touring sites in the Southeast, but a lot of people have been killed up there

and I said it in the other topic, I'll say it here.... crotch rockets are ruining deal's gap... they treat it like their own personal playground and make it very hard for the people who want to CRUISE the gap... and I'll go ahead and say, if we go.... there will be some close calls with some motorcycles... and don't get me wrong, MOST OF THEM will ride with sense

unfortunately, when you get a group of 75 riders, you don't remember the 60 guys that rode with common sense, its the 15 that almost got people killed... and that is the way the cops see it as well.. and so they make it hard for EVERYONE on the gap...

that is why it pissed me off when a couple of the guys in the other topic(who ride) were like "pull over for crotch rockets"... **** that... that is helping them create a problem

 

I went to the Nopi show at Steele in 2004, sucks they stopped doing it there. I am for a fact going to Import Alliance next year in Nashville with my turbo van.

I would be down with Nopi, just need to get the ball rolling on dates, etc Sept is only a week away.

 

^ I would have went this year if they would of had the Redline Time Attack with the event like they did in 2009... wasn't too big on the Import Alliance car show, but it was a lot of fun watching the Time Attack

this year they JUST had the I.A. car show


I don't believe Redline has announced next year's schedule, if it hits Nashville or Atlanta, we need to make it a priority, I had a lot of fun at the last one... ton of cars, domestic and imports

so i took the cobalt in to the dealer on monday to have them look at third gear because it was grinding a little and now i have to leave it in the shop and wait while they order a new tranny because they said the couldnt rebuild it, do i have to worry about them ordering the right trans with my car having LSD and all??? ohh yeah and at first they gave me an impala as a rental but that piece was infested with ants like no joke ants crawling all over me.
so now i have a cobalt sedan and let me tell you this car is horrible.

 

if its the same place adam took his (08inbama) then ya best be worried. other then that you should be fine. its gonna take a long time thou. how you been anyway

 

other than the car ive been good army's keeping me busy im off to WLC next week at fort benning so that should be fun!!
