o2 sensor #1 is problem. that's what the car uses to determine a/f ratios for tuning....when you go wot it switches to predetermined map that doesn't rely on that sensor..I don't know your money situation but I would replace it and plugs....

my $.02

yelp, after reading more about the car, I was going to post what laser said....

replace the plugs and o2 sensor and I bet it'll fix it... maybe someone with a S/C(or former owner) can help you on the location, it is NOT the one on the exhaust... i know on the turbo cars its to the right of the turbo right next to the heat shield, have never looked under the hood of a s/c cobalt...

I just bough a o2 sensor from GMPartsDirect(cheapest place I found them) last Friday and it was $72 shipped.... I don't know about the plugs that people run on the LSJs but at the MOST you're looking at around $50, the plugs I run cost $7/piece, so they're around $35 shipped... they are just the stock plugs from AC Delco gapped a little tighter at .032

Rock Auto is the cheapest place I have found on the stock plugs but they were about $20 higher on the o2 sensor... if you guys ever decide to order anything through Rock Auto, let me know... I can hook you guys up on some discount codes, its only 5% off, but hey its better than nothing... the thing is the stock plugs are sold in sets of 8, that is the way they are packaged... I can get 8 shipped for around $50 through Rock Auto, enough for 2 changes

Ok I have already cleaned the TB, the S/C inlet, replaced the 02 sensor on the back and changed the oil. I reset the computer and it run fine for about 2 days with no issues. Then Monday this happens. So I guess I get a new 02 sensor for the front now and the plugs. I was going to run either NGK or Denso would that be a bad choice? NGK is cheaper but I have always had good luck with them and Denso I ran in my 2g Eclipse. Here is the pic of the S/C pulley, I'm not sure if this is stock but if I had to guess, I'd say yes.

Here are the videos I took. One with it at an idle and another with it running down the road.

So it's not stock? It says 77.9 MM and the H/E is stock but not sure if it's the stage 2 or not. Still new to the whole Cobalt and FI cars. Never had anything but N/A cars so I'm still learning all this stuff..lol.

so run 91 octane ONLY, lol...

if I were you, i'd get with a tuner and at least get someone to go over the tune, you never know who had the car before and what bunk ass tuner they had work on the car, and if they were running 89 gas, i'd definitely go over the parameters of the tune, lol

or it may be a GM stage II calibration which means: you'd gain a lot by a real tune anyway

this is why I am always skeptical of buying a modded car if I don't know the complete history of it(who owned it, what they did to it, how much they know about cars, lol)

a lot of the times buying a modded car is buying someone else's headache and/or a person just threw a lot of random **** on it because it sounded cool

Yeah the guy I got it from didn't have a clue if anything was done to it. Only thing he said that was done to it which I figured was bs to begin with was it had a chip put in but we have already gone over that. Now knowing that it has the stage 2 set up that makes more sense to why it was a beast. So after I get the 02 and plugs fixed I need to get a real tune. So now I need to figure out how much that is going to cost I might do that as a Christmas present. Everyone been asking me what I want and I always tell them just send cash..lol. It usually goes to my car anyways. I actually had someone ask me if I wanted a body kit or something like that and gave them that "Are you freakin serious" look lol. So anyone know about how much that cost to do .

K well the 02 and plugs I'll be taking care of as soon as I can get some business. But the tune will have to be a Christmas gift..lol. I just need to figure out how I'm going to get the cover off the spark plugs. Can't believe someone tightend those bolts that tight. I might have to tap them out not sure yet.

I can do trifecta tune but put a 2.9 pulley on it nates smoothflow is great. Next time u get in the car in 2nd watch the boost tell me how much it is

Bolts go by a shop see if u can throw a mechanic a few bones and get them off

In 2nd gear I can hit 17 PSI that I have seen. It might go higher then that but when I took it to the track I didn't see where it maxed out cause 2nd gear was slipping a little and I only ran 3 times and left due to that. Of course after I leave the track 2nd starts hooking..lol. Some ******* ran me into on coming traffic so I shifted into 2nd from 3rd and gave him the finger as I pasted his VW driving ass from the opposite lane then he tried to keep up but he couldn't handle it...lol. This happened on the way to work from the track to add to that..lol. Just glad a cop wasn't around or it would've been my ass even tho the ******* can't drive and almost cause me to have a head on.

aight will do. It'll probily be around the first of the year. Plus I should be getting back over 4k for student loans so I was thinking about taking 1k of that and doing a few things with the Balt. So when I get that check I'll get that pulley and hit you up. You going to go over all that stuff with me? I don't know anything about tunning these newer cars. I enjoy learning all this stuff. Even my wife can't stand how much time I put into learning and working on my cars...lol. She is getting a 95 Honda Accord for her to fix up cause she can't stand it. It's nothing special but Honda's are cheap and easy to work on so I think it would be good for her. BTW thanks for everyone's help and hopefully this works. You guys are awsome.

you know I hear people complain about how hard the o2 sensor up top is to change on these cars, well, I must say, those guys never owned a LS1 f-body, lol... you want to talk about a bitch to work on because of limited space

for the o2 sensor, I got my dad's set of o2 sockets, an extension, and a ratchet and had it changed in maybe 10 minutes(it was tight as ****, I will say that), much easier than what people had led me to believe..... my brother started doing plugs and wires on his TA, he's about 4 hours in and no end in sight, lol

Wow. Yeah I've had my share of messing with 02 sensors. Had a 97 Plymouth Neon, the biggest piece of **** I have ever owned. I had to change the front 02 sensor on that damn thing and I was almost tempted to just drop the exhaust to do it...lol. I will never own another Neon unless it's an SRT-4.

Tat2NiTeZ, I saw you a couple days ago on Hwy 53 heading towards Athens. I was coming off of Ride Out road when I saw you cross the intersection. Your car stuck out like a sore thumb, but in a good way!

So now there are like 3-5 Cobalts SS in Huntsville Oh yea, Lander's Nissan on Hwy 72 has a 2009 Victory Red Cobalt SS/TC if anyone is interested. Not sure if it has LSD or not.
