hey guys im in dunedin fl and i just got a reckless driving ticket although the cop did not check any of the boxes and he managed to cite the statue number for the careless driving statute. so does that mean that i got a careless driving ticket or a reckless driving ticket?

it should go by the statute number.....and i feel ur pain....dunedin cops are dickwads.....same here in pasco......i got a ticket for $208.50 like a week ago from a city pig in a Dodge Charger....anyway....you should only be charged for careless driving.....reckless is a biggie too....careless is nowhere near as bad....way less points and way less money

I hate vague laws like that. You could be holding the wheel wrong and they'll call it reckless.

"Careless" is basically a stupid driver ticket. it's actually kinda nice of him because if you did those things that you say, they probably would add up to more than the careless.

I don't know how it is in Florida, but I got a reckless along with a speeding ticket in NC & apparently I was given the reckless because I was in excess of 15 mph over the speed limit. I got an 89 in a 55, I'm lucky I still have my license.

Yeah the vagueness is terrible here in VA. Hell you can even get a reckless driving ticket for failing to signal plus reckless driving is classified the same as a DUI atleast here in VA.

You guys have it bad. Granted, I have no idea how it's classified here. I just get speeding tickets. They suck, too.

hmmmmm im not sure i think u lucked out
i got pulled over for doing 55 in a 45 in Tacoma, WA.
and the cop wrote me like 3 seperate tickets 1 for speeding 10 over. Then he wrote me one for pulling over too quickly after he turned his lights on i was already on the shoulder.
Then he wrote me a ticket for wreckless endangerment. so i think i got like $190 on speeding
as for pulling over too fast wtf? is that hmmmm he gave me a warning wtf. <----- i think he made that up.
and i got a $279 on Wreckless endangerment and i don't know what i did that was wreckless.
but i must say i lucked out i only payed $100 for speeding and they droped the wreckless because he couldn't give an answer lol i like dumb cops. but that wasn't in my cobalt that was in my 3000GT.

either way some cops are just in a bad mood everyday

Lol, Jesus... I can understand the speeding part... but down here in Boca, I've lost the count of how many times I almost got into accidents because of people changing lanes more often than they blink. And I've never seen anyone pulled over because of that.

Following too closely.. pff, sometimes I look through my mirrors and all I can see are the 8'foot-tall truck's grilles like they're just about to hit me in the teeth. Freaks me out every time.

Anyway, good luck with the ticket. Maybe try to dispute it?
