Sportlines, Need A Place To Install

Just recieved my Eibach springs yesterday and I would love to do it myself but lack the little knowledge and plus I want it done right so figured I would get on here and see if anybody knows of a good place to go around my area. Another big reason for not doing it myself is a lift would definately be better than jacking up and using stands and I do not have the right tool(s) to not kill myself undoing the stockers.

Anyway, was impressed at how fast I got them from Turbo Tech Racing, got 'em in basically 5 days and they came from Cali.

well, a few things.

1) you don't need a lift, it's not better than jacks or stands. either way is totally fine
2) you don't need any knowledge at all. if you can spin a wrench you can do this.
3) there's a how to on the site, check it out before you make your decision. i'd hate to see you pay for someone to do it, then realize how easy it is and that you wasted your money.

maybe a local member can help you? the rear is literally one bolt on each site, take them out and put the new ones in. front is a few more bolts, but same concept.

Well technically if you have everything and maybe a friend or two its pretty straight forward and can be done in a few hours(maybe 2). I have listened to people who have done it and they make it sound like changing an air filter haha, but w/ a few more steps thrown in. Only thing that worries me is doing not exactly right and doing some bad. I am a very cautious person, even surprised I managed to by myself put my Halo Projectors in being a worry-wart that I am.

lol I'm just worried cause i would be doing it with at the most 1 other guy, and I don't really have any tools and/or a place to do this (my apartment has no garage, and the parking lot is where I must work on my car ) i'm sure I could get the spring compressor easily enough, but I also heard you should have air tools and I def. don't.

i did mine by mysely in about two hours. only thing i had to buy was the spring compressor from advance auto for like 15 bucks. save your money and do it yourself. you feel better this way too =] like you've accomplished something. just take you time and follow the how to step by step on here

It really is like changing an air filter, the only special tools you need are a spring compressor (which you can borrow from autozone for free) and I would recommend a torque wrench so you can apply the correct tightness to the top strut bolt. It took me 3.5 hours but that included installing my Koni shocks as well which requires cutting the front struts. 2 hours for the first one so I could figure out how I wanted to go about cutting the shock. The other one was an hour, and the back took 30 mins.

I have been reading threads and nothing seems to totally answer a couple others ?'s. It seems a few think that you do not have to change to aftermarket struts and such, others say its a must. Is it? Where can I get these stuff if I need too and is there any cutting to the front struts w/ the sportlines.

If you are changing just springs there is absolutely no cutting involved. Cutting is only required with the front strut inserts from Koni. I have no experience with the stock shocks on sportlines because I did it all in one shot. My personal opinion is that you should because the stock shocks are not meant for such a high spring rate, so basically you will be bouncing off your bump stops if you don't (or so I would imagine.)

Thanks for all the advice thus far. These is going to be more of a headache than I thought, going to look front OEM struts that are meant for when you lower the car, seems to be a common concenus that they were eventually need to be replaced down the road. I was going to take my car to a speed shop down the road(speed styles) and see if anyone there could shed light on this and maybe point me where to get some stuff and maybe a nice deal on doing the install but when I got done w/ washing the car I was just so worn out, think I may be getting sick yet again that I could barely finish putting all the supplies back. I guess I can swing by that place after work.

Honestly, you should do them yourself. It's cheaper, and you get to learn a little about your car. The fronts you have to take 3 nuts off the top and 2 off the bottom plus the connecting rod bolt. It really is a piece of cake. If you want to do the struts as well, just get yourself a hand saw (the kind that has a band for a blade) or a sawzall (waaaay faster) and while you have it apart just do that while you have them off. A shop will probably charge you up the bum for labor unless you have a hookup.

Just my .02

Any other questions I can help you with?
