100 % custom front STB
Well a friend and I had the idea to make a strut bar for my car instead of buying one, just because of the price they are going for and since we both work at a metal shop and use a welder everyday we thought it would be easy to do. After we finished the STB we decided we are going to make a few of them and see who might be interested in one.
I took the car out after we put it on and I noticed a big difference with it on.
Here are the pics of it.
Thanks for looking.

LOOKS GOOD AS WELL , THE ONLY THING I WOULD ALTER IS WHERE THE BAR MOUNTS TO THE BRACKETS ON THE STRUTS...I WOULD BOX OFF THE REST OF THE MOUNT OTHER THEN JUST LEAVING 2 PEICES OF METAL FOR THE BAR TO SUPPORT TO. BOXING OFF THE ENDS WILL STRENGTHEN IT EVEN MORE.
LOOKS GREAT NONE THE LESS

My friend and I were looking at selling them for $80 shipped. We looked on the internet and on Ebay and the cheapest we found was $119 plus shipping. so with what we go through to make them and the cost of the material we think $80 is a fair price.
I just painted the thing black to see how it would look, it we sell them we were thinking of just leaving the bar it self the steal color and you all could paint them whatever color you want.
I totaly understand what you mean and we might come up with that idea on the next one we make. Thank you.

80 shipped sounds reasonable.. nice product man.

Working with and being with a metal fabricator daily I must disagree with everyone and say that I think this piece is very poorly made. I would be embarrassed to send something out that looked like that. The fitment in the mounting tabs is poorly done and, as one person has already said, the paint needs help too. I would also be concerned about the strength of the tabs and how the forces that they see would stress them.
Good try for your first project but I would think twice before you offer them for sale. I think you might be in over your head.

ok after thinking about what Jefferyss and marcusicp have said I have just thought up a whole new design for the brackets and it will become a complete one piece bar that will hold up even better.
Thank you guys for the idea.

I am curiosu as to why you chose to make a jointed as opposed to solid bar?
O. Do I read your last post correct, your now going to fabricate a solid one as opposed to your current jointed version?

Not bad for an initial design, I would perfer the 3 piece if you could beef up the mounts a bit. I was thinking of making my own with a machined down torsion bar from a truck. I like the ability to add my own preload setting. I dont want to sound as harsh as Marcus but I have to agree this initial design doesnt look strong enough for prolonged use.

I agree. thats why Im coming up with a new design and have the plans ready to go. the new design will be much stronger and I think will look better. I have no hard feelings at all to anyone. If you think I can make a better one then tell me what you have inmind.

Oh I didnt mean it like that, Marcus is cool, I met him at the last NC meet.
Still if you keep with the 3 piece design I will definately get one when version 2/3/4/ect comes out to my liking.

Oh man its cool. I guess I could make a few 3 piece designs and make the mounts better/stronger. But I do plan on making a solid one piece. I think this design is a good idea but it was just my first one I made and they will keep getting better as I make them, but the one piece I think will hold up better and possibly look better.
