Alignment on sportlines?

Alignment on sportlines?

is it hard to do an alignment with sportlines on stock struts?

Only if you think it's hard to align stock.

There is only ONE thing to adjust on these cars from the factory, that's the front toe setting. Which doesn't change when you lower the car. Alignment is not needed.

If you want to change camber, you have to start using aftermarket parts because there is no built in adjustment stock.

The rears are fixed due to the axle design, so it's not hard to adjust something that doesn't get adjusted.

so, if I had been lowered on sports, is only really need camber adjustment?
possible solution using camber bolt kits? (progress alignment kit from andy's?)

Doesn't need anything, and the camber can't be adjusted so I don't worry about them. I've put in many sets of springs and not aligned after, it doesn't change any of the settings. If you needed an alignment after springs, you needed one before and just didn't know it.

Nope. I ran sportlines for over 40K miles and several different sets of tires with no issues, even wear all across. They don't add enough camber to change anything.

What!!! I ******* got had for $80 . I was told it is required to get an alignment after a lowering spring install.

Sorry to tell you, most alignments done in shops are smoked, there isn't a reason to adjust unless they are way out and wearing tires or something. They'll show you the .03 degress they adjusted, but you won't notice it. If you come in asking for an alignment but there isn't anything wrong, tires wearing well, all that, what would they want to change that for? They will go through the motions as alignments are all labor and the techs usually get paid very well for them, but often times little if anything is changed.

Just being honest.

IF they challenge it, they are lying. I know there are some people who do jobs correctly, but the majority doesn't.

Hes not lying. I've done so many were you set up the car swing it and it's all green.... Cool two hours of pay. It's like that but since techs lose their ass alot on other jobs the just book it and see you on your way.

So... my wheel isn't 100% straight, I'd say of a precentage, it's about 95% straight.

I'm buying lowering springs, I assumed I needed an alignment done, now you're all saying I don't?

If so, that saves me $80

If your wheel is off center you will need an alignment to fix that, you probably slightly bent something at one point. Still has nothing to do with lowering the car.

just throwing this out there but when i put my eibach pro-kit on with stock struts and shocks my front camber was off about 3 degrees, enough that you could see it. if i recall correctly spec is around 1.2 degrees max. we got it back within spec by drilling the 2 hub bolt holes out a little larger where the strut bolts to the hub... if you don't have the right camber set-up your car WILL NOT handle as well as it should

I remember I lowered my 1st cobalt on sportlines and never had it alligned and it took about 2 years (switching off and on for winter) and the inside of the tire finally rounded off lol
