any one have problems with EBC

well does any one have the same problem as me? i order the EBC dimple sloted rotors and green stufff pad from ttr(wich they are great people). i had them on for 3 to 5 k miles(around the middle of may i installed them).but i have this noice coming from my rotors/pads. sounds like i have no pads left. it squeaks(sounds like crickets) alot when i am just driving at any speeds and it kinda quiets down when i apply the brakes it gets louder and then it quiets down. any one??what u guys think it could be? bad pads or rotors?

You need to take the brake pads off and apply antiseize on the back of them (opposite the side that touches the rotor, obviously)

I just got the rotors but dont have them on yet and didnt get new pads. I only have 26k on my stock pads, is it ok to run it with those till I buy hawk pads in month, or should I just rush-order the pads and wait to put the rotors on?

Did anyone have the EBC rotors and HAWK pads? If so is the noise still there? That way we can pin point if it is the rotors whistling or the pads.....

I think as EBC stated it is the Cooling properties of the rotors that cause this... I guess it is a function of having a better cooler rotor.

I dont see how it would be the "pads" as the pads are not touching the rotors unless you are braking....

I have the ebc's and greens. It makes the normal sound from performance brakes whenthe brake is applied, but i don't get awhole lot of whistling while driving.

I know they had a big problem with improper break ins. If you hard breaked too much during the break in period they have been known to squeak a little, but I think the whistle noise would be just the areodynamics of the rotors.... the dimples.

Very true the first 500-1000 miles you do not want to step on the brakes hard...

i have the ebc rotors and hawk hps pads and since day one i have the same cricket sounds. ive heard it's because the rotors are dimpled instead of drilled, they're stronger than drilled but the sounds waves are reflected out of the dimple. i've had mine for over a year and im pretty used to them now, the sound is still there but it doesn't really bother me. sometimes someone will suggest i have nails in my tires because they hear it and i just say ohh thanx. all in all i'm happy with the performance of the setup, it's served me well on autox days, but id like a nice quiet setup next.

I have the same setup on my car, and i get the cricket sound, I thought i needed to break the pads and rotors in but ive had them on my car for about 3k miles now and nothing has really changed, its annoying when you have the windows down but its livable.

absolutely not. your pads "match" your rotors. so the stock pads are matched to the stock rotors. you will very possibly damage your brand new rotors by using the old pads. especially if the old rotors were grooved or warped.

why are you upset? because they make noise? you should have researched before you bought, and you would have found out that they're going to make more noise than stock. this is almost as rediculous as saying "I'm pissed, my magnaflow exhaust made my car louder than stock".

i have the ebc and hawk hps pads, and LOVE it! yea, it's a little noiseier than stock, but it says right on ebc's website that it will be louder, just like you said Aaron because of the cooling properties. Air is rushing through those slots and dimples as you drive.

I also have EBC red stuff pads and dimpled and slotted rotors and i to get the noise, i did contact EBC numerous times and they say its normal with these, I'm used to it now though. i thought front brakes did drag a little bit since there is no springs or anything to pull the pads back from the rotor.
