in normal everyday driving the difference will be very slight... mostly there for looks... if you're doing auto-x, then you will definitely feel a difference...

I have the DC Sports strut tower brace installed. I think it was worth it. My only concern with it is that the front end has tightened up so much that I see heavier understeer now. But I'm sure that could be addressed by adding a rear strut tower brace once one becomes available. It definately reduced body roll upfront, but it's not a huge difference. It's one of those pieces that is nice to have and works great with other suspension upgrades. I would reccommend it as a great start. But you should also look into new springs (SSC or Eibach), CAB's, and most importantly...tires. Also, you should keep your eye out for struts. Not available yet, without buying coilovers, but there will be a lot of hype on here when they do come out.

There are over 100 members from this site that have purchased the DC Sports front strut bar. Well that would be from us alone, most everyone i know was very happy with it.

Hey Aaron,

Call up DC and tell them to get the lead out and make us a rear strut bar!!!

Seriously though, let us know as soon as you find someone that offers a decent rear bar.

And thanks again for helping us balts out, I have nothing but good things to say about your customer service regarding my two purchases from you.

Edubs I dont belive a rear strut bar would be needed seeing as we have no rear struts. And we also have a solid rear end so its like theres a "strut bar" back there. They do have the progress rear anti-sway bar though. Thats probly more what your looking for as far as body roll.

P.s. Aaron your awesome man! Love TTR!

Ahhh,

I stand corrected. Still in J-body mode. My cav had the rear shocks that a bar could be added to connect in the trunk. Haven't really stuck my head in this trunk or under the rear suspension yet to see how everything is mounted up. My bad.

But the shocks mounted into towers in the trunk very similar to the front strut towers in the engine bay. Having a bar to conect one end to the other does help add the same stability the solid rear end provided down low up top. I added one on my 02' cav when I did all my other suspension mods and I loved it. I like having the rear end be stiffer than the front when it comes to driving a FWD car.

And so do the Cobalts. It is the same setup except for where the shocks mount.

Its not the EXACT same, the cobalts use a solid rear ladder bar axle. It then has a spot for the spring on each side that sit in a coupling type thing. They rest on the topside on the body. No struts are involved and they use a single shock absorber on each side.

This is the best looking strut brace by far.

I bought the DC Sports bar from TTR a few months ago. It's not a huge difference in handling but I certainly do feel it. I'd imagine it'd work best in conjunction with new springs/coilovers and a rear away bar. It's a great bang for your buck mod.

I had one on my old Z24 and that thing was amazing. I wanted one for my balt but damn they are expensive as hell. the one that i got for my Z was only like 45 dollars the cheapest one for my cobalt that i have found is like 140.

where are all the cheap ones. Im not about to pay that much for a strut brace.

I have a rear strut bar on my car... it does make quite the difference. The car doesn't exactly have a solid rear axle, at least not like a Camaro would... it's a trailing arm-like setup...

I road race, and could notice quite the difference. We're having a decent size group but for an adjustable rear one right now...

I miss the old Cavalier convertible strut braces we used to get for our Berettas - about $40 brand new from the dealer, or $5 - $10 at the junkyard. But it sure was noticeable!

I got mine from TTR and have been very pleased with it. It was my first mod and was very easy to install and looks great. Like most people have been saying there isnt a big difference in everyday driving. I noticed a slight difference when go around sharp turns at a decent speed. There are some rear braces out there. Torqueforward has one. It says it is only for the SS but i have talked to ben who has talked to his techs and they said that it will fit all the cobalts and if not they will refund your money. It would be nice tho if DC would make one.

I recently took my dc strut bar off and wow can I tell the difference. the car reacts to grooves in the road 5 times more than it did with the bar on. I will just be driving and the car will start turning. it's crazy. i suggest anyone that thinks their bar doesn't do anythign take it off for a few days and see what happens

I just got a bar, and the butt pirates sent me a cs-2 bar when i ordered and needed the cs-1. I guess its not their fault the part was label for a cobalt, but the instructions said 97 civic.
