Anyone know anything about Ground Control from Eibach?
Anyone know anything about Ground Control from Eibach?
i am wanting some coilovers but dont want spend a lot of money right now. so i was looking and saw that eibach has groundcontrol and can be adjusted between 1 to 3 inches. i want to lower my so bad. so if anyone knows anything about these i would like to know. i would save alot of money for right now buying those.
Too bad it comes WITH the springs. I'm already on Sportlines. If I could get just the sleeve thing, I would be so in for this!!
It's like coils without all of the bullshit.

These should come with 6" long X 2.5" ID Eibach front springs and 8" long X 2.5" ID rear springs. I don't know what the front spring rate will be, I ordered custom 550 lb front springs when I bought mine. The rears are about 250 lb springs -- I ordered a set of 7" X 650 lb rear springs for mine when I got the Ground Controls.
I have since order different springs from Eibach, Swift, and Hypercoil -- in varying lengths and spring rates to 'tune' the suspension. Since you can 'play' with the spring lengths and spring rates, the drop can be almost whatever you want (if you lower a bunch, you need to look at the shocks/struts you're using to make sure they'll work -- beware of a really crappy ride on the street if you're dropping much).
I also use Koni adjustable shocks and struts and the Ground Control coilover components and springs work just fine with the Koni cartridges up front.
I also bought a set of B&G pillow ball camber plates and modified them slightly to work with my Konis (larger bolts on the Konis) -- you can get them here -- http://www.urbanworx.com/5848/1/87/5...e_2.0_FWD.html.
Bottom line, they work well.

all these are are sleeves with threads to make your stock suspension "adjustable".. horrible idea imo as the stock shocks arent efficient nor work well when lowered that low. dont waste your money on these save up for a real suspension.
First comment: I doubt you can buy them without springs -- I couldn't when I got them from Ground Control.
Second comment: I mentioned that I used Koni adjustables for my shocks and I mentioned that anyone needs to know that stock shocks and extreme lowering make for a crappy ride. My vehicle isn't lowered extremely -- it's dropped about an inch, perhaps a bit more, to stiffen the roll-center but that's about it.
I'm not completely convinced that anyone's 'shocks' are much better than the stock FE5 shocks/struts or Konis. I've seen lots of advertising, but very little real results -- except for 'real' racing Cobalts and they use Bilsteins or Penskes or similar (at about $1000 each). I don't have that kind of money.
Oops, I almost forgot that I have pillow-ball camber plates, and I even use Torrington bearings under the front springs -- so that makes some difference in the way the suspension works.

BTW, the Ground Control sleeves won't slip down over the top of the Koni strut cartridges. So I pulled the cartridges out, installed the sleeves, and then re-installed the Koni cartridges -- a perfect fit -- the Koni presses down against the sleeve and keeps everything tight and in place.
Just lucky..
