Anyone know what this metal clip is for?

This fell off my car tonight when I jacked up the rear driver side.

Can't figure out what it's for. I have the 2.2l with rear drums incase that's what it's off of.

Oh and there's a story behind why I had to jack it up. I took my car to the dealer today to get an alignment because I finally installed my lowering springs. On my way home later that night, I noticed that my rear springs were making a loud clunking sound when I hit bumps at low speeds, which they weren't doing before I took it there. Well, when the dumbasses jacked the car up, the forgot to check to make sure the rear springs were all the way in. Turns out, that the spring assembly (spring and top and bottom plastic part) fell out of the plastic pieces that hold them in, the bottom was on, but the top was hanging off to the side. Anyway, when I got home, took 5 minutes and fixed it. Now it sound perfect

Ok so not of any major importance? I've got drum brakes if that matters. Should I make sure I put this on before I drive again, or just not worry about it?
