BC Coilover question

So this is for the bc coilover folks out there. Quick question, I just got my coilovers and im curious about the rear spring setup. Do you utilize any of the original factory spring peices or does the bc spring hardware replace it all?

Also does the adjustment tube with the lock rings sit ontop of the spring, or on the bottom of the spring. I thought it was ontop but ive seen a picture showing it on the bottom.

Thanks for the answers

the only thing you need from the stock parts is the plastic top and bottom for the spring. and the "adjustment tube" and lock rings goes on the bottom of the rear spring.

So i put everything in like you guys said and im kinda curious now. So i lowered the springs as far as they go and when i jack up the rear to set the shock length, the shock is bottomed out in the threaded tube and the springs are still sitting loose at full suspension droop.

Are the springs suppose to be like that? I thought they were suppose to be taught when at full droop, but the shock cannot be shortened anymore. I was just wondering if this is normal

Yep if I am not mistaken that is how my car is. I took out the lock rings for my rear and shortened the shocks all the way, when I jack my up it is not taught as you described.

Ya same here, I took out my rear lock rings and wish I could go lower... but when I ordered my coilovers I was not aware that there is an extreme drop kit for the BC coilovers (available at no extra charge when the order is placed).

I know it's an old thread, but I have a real urgent question. I put my coils on and plan on showing the car in a little over a week. The rears on my BC coils are really high because the threaded adjuster hit the bottom of the shock. I saw intel talked about "shortened" does he mean he cut down the threaded metal piece where it's just metal and not the shock tube itself?

06naturalss, by shortened I meant threading the adjuster till it hit the bottom of the shock.

You can actually contact BC to get the extreme drop kit for the rear if you want but it's really expensive and not very cost effective.

Oh :/ cause I bottomed out the adjuster and lowered the spring adjuster all the way and I've got like over an inch and a quarter of wheel gap on 17" Varrstoens a/ 215/40/ZR17's on, and I know others with basically the same setup as me without the extreme drop kit and they are way lower in the back

Just getting 20mm wider of a tire meaning 8mm taller sidewall wouldn't get rid of my over an inch of gap :/
