kyb gr2 is basicly a stock replacement, but they are a little firmer. they are not bad for the money, i would use them over a monroe anyday. if you have an fe1/fe3 suspention they would work alright with a mild drop.

If you want the KYB GR-2 struts and/or shocks...go to www.ajusa.com as you can get the whole set of shocks and struts for about $200 with free shipping to the Continental US.

Sorry to thread jack, but price to performance wise, would you get GR-2s for 200 shipped, or FE5 suspension for 380 shipped.

Mild drop on sportlines.

what trim level do you have??? if its anything other than an ss/sc or tc then the tc struts struts will make a big difference, were the gr2's wont. the gr2 struts are will be slightly firmer than a base model strut, not much of a performance upgrade by any means.

Someone should mention the KYB GR-2 are above the FE1 suspension...more between FE3 and FE5..not better than FE5 though. They may take more abuse in terms of how long they last being lowered, but you're still better off spending the extra $100 for the SS/TC shocks and struts...$300 for SS/TC...$200 for KYB...~$560 for Koni's right now too. They're on sale at Tire Rack and JasonAudio has a group buy he's trying to get going for them that will save you even more money...closer to $500 plus shipping.

I didn't know they made the Excel-G shocks/struts for the Cobalt...that must be a newer release if they actually have them, but they're still similar to the GR-2's. If you're running stock suspension, you'll get a pretty nice ride out of those. You may want to consider Monroe Sensa-Trac though, those are pretty nice as well and may give you a better ride. Otherwise, since you'll be paying just as much, you could just get the SS/TC FE5 struts/shocks. I know the GR-2's can be had for around $200, but the Excel-G's if they actually make them and Sensa-Trac's are going to run closer to $300 which is what the SS/TC FE5 struts/shocks run.

ok i got the kyb excel-g shocks & struts installed with a fresh alignment the ride quality is 100% better than the ride quality with factory shocks & struts with sportlines springs. ,i also installed r1 concepts premium rotors with hawk ferro-carbon pads & thmotorsports braided brake lines & new tires good year eagle gt 235/40/18 (sweet tires). i would recommend the kyb shocks & struts for the daily driver like my car they really help the ride with sportlines compared to the factory junk.

side note i payed $185 shipped on ebay for the kyb excel-g shocks & struts
