Bilstein b6 rear shocks or oem fe5?

I broke a rear shock hitting a speed bump i didn't see. I went to pep boys & replaced the rear shocks with Monroe. I've done some reading & found out that the consensus on monroe is Don't get them. My suspension consists of fe5 front shocks & struts ( replaced 30,000 miles ago) monroe rear shocks, Powell yyz v5 springs, OTTP hardcore sway bar control arms with ottp spherical tcabs. Ottp stage 2 trans mounts. I just added the hardcore rear sway bar & feel that my Monroe shocks weakness has been exploited. Was thinking about going with bilstein b6 rear shocks but read that they are a bit longer than OEM. Would that effect ride height? Should i just go back the acdelco fe5 rear shocks? I don't track the car so i don't want to spend the coin on koni's. Just want a good rear shock. Any opinions on the matter would help. T.I.A.

Yeah either go with fe5 or bilsteins. Another option which is good is kyb's which I'm running on my g5 gt and they have been really good so far. But yeah monroes are not that good and you have way better options to choose from.

I went with OEM FE5's - this is my 3rd time replacing them - 2009 SC/TC - at about 70K. It's been on yyz springs for 50K. Street driven/ not tracked. Car handles great.

I did talk with John Powell about a month ago and he said that he was working on a new Koni strut/ shock setup. In the end I just stayed with the FE5's. They don't last as long but are cheap enough to replace every about 30K.

I know others can chime in - they are running John Powells's inserts.

Good choice brotha. Cant go wrong with stock fe5's really. I've ran them in the past and had no complaints. Only reason I went with kybs this time was because I got a good deal at the time for front and the rear.

I usually get mine from Tom at CrateEngineDepot. I can't talk to price comparisons, but my parts always show up when he says, and they are definitely genuine GM parts.

To be clear, I think he's actually working on a Bilstein shock/strut combo that will be specifically valved for a Delta running YYZ's. I know he's spent something like 2 years working on a YYZ/Bilstein package for Camaros; pretty sure he's doing the same for the Deltas.

Great info guys. I do buy alot of things from Tom @ crate engine depot. I do feel it's necessary to support quality vendors because they always stock the real deal parts with no trickery/ shenanigans. Quality guarnteed & peace of mind always turns out to be cost efficient.

I think you are correct. I went back to check my texts, but realized we probably talked about it on the phone.

Yup john is working on getting the bilstein. Might go for that when it comes available since my konis are getting old and plenty of miles on them

Per Bilstein's website.

Bilstein B6 Performance dampers are a performance upgrade to OE dampers designed to be paired with the OE factory spring.
Bilstein B8 Performance Plus dampers are a performance upgrade to OE dampers designed to be paired with aftermarket lowering springs.
