Brake Caliper ?'s

Hey, quick question - if you swap the front calipers (so the bleeder valve is on the wrong side corresponding with the stamp on the back of the piston), would this prevent you from bleeding your brakes properly?

As in, you can bleed fluid through until there is no more air only to test drive the car and have NO BRAKES, just like the lines were full of air?

You can pump up the brakes with the car off or if you DON'T have the clutch pressed in, FWIW.

Thanks!

So it sounds like you did this already. This is bad. No, you can not properly bleed the brakes with the bleeder port on the bottom. All of the space above the port will be filled with air. Thats why they put the port at the top.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE QUICK REPLY!

I had installed both front calipers with the bleeder valves down, totally not even thinking about anything. Couldn't figure out why I could bleed the brakes and the clutch (like five times, seriously, I must have completely flushed the entire system three or four times bleeding it so much) and have NO air, only to drive with NO BRAKES like there was nothing BUT air in the system.

Swapped them out today - took about fifteen minutes total, including jacking the car up, taking wheels off, swapping, bleeding all four corners and clutch as well as putting it all together and torquing the wheels. (I'm now a PRO at this, believe you me!)

Everything is perfect.

Thanks again for being entirely helpful, Halfcent and css.net.
