Clunk

I had the dreaded front end clunk, and I've gotten around to replacing end links and sway bar bushings so far. it seemed like the clunk stopped for a day or two, then came back twice as loud. it wasn't so much during normal driving, but more moving from a stop, not smooth shifts, so i thought it might be something loose that i replaced. checked it all and it's good and tight. after another few days, the clunking stopped.

Anybody have any ideas as to what to look at/why it would have stopped on its own? i have CABS, leading and trailing, that will go on next, i just thought that the clunk started/stopped on its own was weird and wanted to ask opinions.

Have you ever replaced the CAB's?

I did and even though they needed to be replaced badly, the clunk was still there. My next guesses are a binding intermediate shaft or strut mounts. I'm pretty sure my shaft is seized because when i replaced my engine the collar would not separate until i started dropping the cradle. There was no play at all. Hindsight I should have replaced it then, but I had no idea that was an issue until I saw another thread about it.

I have a clunk as well. My clunk happens mainly at low speeds and going over bumpy surfaces. PPretty much gone at high way speeds.

Mine is a pretty sharp clunk as well, not subtle or "light" by any means.

I haven't replaced the CABS yet, which had me thhinking that was likely the cause, i just haven't gotten around to pressing the old bushings out. I was thrown off by it starting/stopping on its own, that was why i thought to post and ask for thoughts.
