Coilover Tuning

Recently bought a SSTC and it came with a set of the Megan EZ Street coilovers. I don't think the previous owner set them up properly. Is there a guide out there which teaches how to tune coilovers?

it depends on what you are going for. If you want just ride height, adjust them so the car sits as you want on level ground. If you want proper weight distribution/balance, you will need corner scales and adjust accordingly

In terms of the damping adjustment, you will need a shock dyno to do it "properly", but as long as they are adjusted as front and rear pairs, you will be fine for anything you are doing.

If you are just streeting the car, I would just set the ride height where you would like, and play with the damping. If you were tracking the car I would recommend corner balancing

Thanks.

I did some back of the envelope calculations and it seems like setting a preload on the springs don't actually do much other than moving the equilibrium position of the damper's piston (ie. too much preload and you will top out the piston, and the piston will bottom out with too little preload). I don't think there is too much merit in tinkering with this right?

I don't think you can "tune" Megan ez streets, they are a budget coilover, with less adjustments, I believe dampening only. But that can be adjusted to change ride characteristics. Does it ride like ****?

No, I don't think so.

When I say tune, I actually mean balance them out so that the settings wont destroy the tires and keep the car well balanced as well.

you can get them corner weighted, pretty useless on such a cheap coilover tho.
