coilovers and bumpstops

so real quick. do you really need to keep the bumpstops when you have coilovers?? i would say that you dont need them since you can adjust the length of the shocks.

i understand why u need them with just lowering springs. the springs make the shocks sag.

but with coilovers the shocks still have full travel when its lowered. so any thoughts?

You need them for any suspension setup. They keep the car from bottoming out hard. With CO's, you should cut them in half at least. What does it say in the CO instruction manual?

you DON'T need the bump stop for coilovers setup, at least not mine. i have bump stop on the rear shocks itself, so why have 2 bump stops.

If you have c/o's why are you talking about bumpstops or are you refering to adjustable sleeves and springs often called coilovers?

The coilovers kits for our cars are different on the rear ones. They have a shock but have a separate spring that goes on a perch that replaces the stock one. The rear suspension's design wouldn't allow for a coilover similar to the front. We're talking about the bumpstop that goes on each end of the spring.

well the bumpstops are meant to work with the STOCK shock not a coilover shock. bottomoing out a coilover shock and bottoming out a stock shock is two different limits there cause the coilover shock is actually designed for lowering unlike the stocker

exactly 06cobalt racer the bump stop on my coilover would hit before the stock bump stop would hit.
