FE5 lsj vs FE5 lnf

Whats the difference in the spring rate, does it sit better? i already read dozens of posts on the comfort level is better, nobody ever said the real difference between lsj springs and lnf springs... i know the difference is next to nothing but the ride feels better. but WHAT makes it differ? i hope this ? isnt confusing. i almost confused myself typing it... smh

From my understanding the better ride is a combo of springs/shocks and better control arms! If that answers your question. As far as exact spring rates/shock dampening i dont know! Difference in tire size stock is 215/45/18 for SS/SC and 225/40/18 for the T/c SO it has less fender gap!

arent ss/sc LCAs the same as every other normal cobalt? i thought LNF's got the aluminum LCA's and "competiton knuckles"

IIRC, LNF and LSJ control arms are the same, with the exception of the Ball Joint being slightly larger in diameter on the LNF.

LSJ's are definitely aluminum, just like the LNF and they certainly look identical.

John Powell would be able to answer for sure, as to what the exact difference are.

This.

As for the suspension & spring rates.... I would like to know as well.

All you ever hear from the kiddies on here is "it's a night & day difference". Well, that's great, but I like my data for varifying and comparing the "night & day" difference.

John Powell. He's the man. If he can't do it, nobody can.

No, seriously.

Id like to know this too..... seeing as I've owned both and the differences aren't night and day .... more like dusk to night.

Generally if you're going to change the springs, you're probably better off doing the SS/TC struts/shocks and Pedders.

im not looking to be lowered. just little more improved handling at stock height. my wheel gap isnt too bad and i already have trouble going into park n lots, etc... no matter how much of an angle i go in at, it still manages to scrap a lil bit each time. philly ftl on the potholes and entrances...

According to my GM catalog, the FE5 springs were different for the 08-09 years from the 05-07 balts. From 05-07 the springs are the same for FE3 and FE5. 08-09 had a diferent spring for the FE5. LSJ and LNF hav the same part number so I don't see that there would be a difference.

Better spring rate for the springs and better dampening ability for the shocks. That's ultimately what its going to boil down to.
