Hit a curb going sideways ...now wierd noise

It was slippery as hell last night and was making a turn , I was only going about 15 tops . The car just slid sideways and back tire smacked the curb pretty damn hard . From the visuals it only appeared to have scraped my rim really good . After finally getting to drive it on some dry pavement at highways speeds tonite with all the snow and ice sprayed out of my suspension at the car wash ......theres something going on back there . When I touch my brakes lightly it sounds like someone is knocking on the back of my car , if I apply more pressure to the pedal the knock sound goes away . I dont feel ANY pusling in the pedal at all . Also there is a pretty good vibration now that hums ....like what a bad wheel bearing would sound like . Ive never driven on a rim/tire thats out of balance . I know having one outa balance can cause the vibration , but could it also mimmick the sound of a bad wheel bearing ?

I dont the time to tear it apart until tomorrow night , so thought I would ask bout the tire/balance and fish for ideas on the brakes . Visually the suspension and brake rotor appear to be fine .

Maybe you just have some ice and snow stuck in your wheel now...

I've had ice stuck on in inside of my wheels make wheel balance go crazy. I couldnt go over 30mph, haha

Also...it was really loud and I thought my car was broken.

rally .... I spent about 7 bux at the spray booth car wash sparaying out all the snow and ice so I could get a accurate drive on the highway .

It sure does sound like a bad wheel bearing . I kinda figured if it hit hard enuff to hurt that it would screwed more up elsehwere too . Guess I'll start 2morrow by getting the rim/tire checked for balance and go from there .

one way to check is jack up the back end and check for play in the tire/wheel hub

...it ended up being both passenger rims bent ( at the barrel of the wheel ) , bent rotors , wheel bearings . And with all that being tweaked , I cant see the more being fucked up . Sooo , Im gonna just gonna take it to the dealer have insurance take care of it .

Hahaha , there wasnt any body damage at all . 2 of the rota's are bent at the barrel of the wheel though . I had blizzak LM22's .....the rears I shoulda been replaced because they were well worn and I was trying to stretch it ....we just havennt been getting much snow , and Im broke at the moment . Bit me in the ass The wheel bearing hubs and brake rotors Im pretty sure got bent a little too judging by the noise when I hit the brake pedal .

Needless to say , I will most likely be setting up another rota wheel group purchase this spring around april or may .

Raine- Im gonna be rockin steelies for the rest of winter ...doh!

Cool ....it will either be the Tarmac in Gunmetal , or the SVN wheel . Since Wedsport doesnt do 5-110 , I want something as close to a SA70 wheel as possible and still be light .

HMMM, SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME! i was only going about 15 to 20 mph and hit a curb with my back tire under some snow, long story short, my entire rear end had to be replaced. no body damage at all but still costed my insurance company $2200 bucks! New rim, axle assem, hub, shocks, etc...
