I think my struts are blown??

I have sportlines installed on my 2.2 cobalt for about 6 months now and just lately i've been getting a pop noise from my front suspension everytime i go over bumps. How else can I tell if my struts are blown?

Well, I have to think, Normally there is a swaybar, but If I remember this car has none, just a large brace between the two.

Never Mind.

like mkulrey13 said the most obvious sign the struts are gone is leaking oil, although alot of people have noticed new noises after lowering. i used to get popping sounds from the rear untill i got the koni's. these 2.2l shocks and struts arent built to withstand the higher spring rates and they do fail pretty quickly, if you have the cash the koni's are a tremendous upgrade and they will probly outlast you owning the car.

really konis last that long? are the front inserts hard to install?

okay so i checked my struts and they don't appear to be leaking. And all of the bolts are nice and tight so i'm guessing my struts are just shot and need to be replaced.

i know people who have been autocrossing on the same koni's for 8 or 9 years, and thats every weekend and using the car as a daily driver. the front inserts arent hard to install just a little time consuming. youll need an minimun a hack saw( preferrably a saws all or dremel tool) just cut the struts about 1/8th of an inch down from the top, gut everything out and clean the oil out, drill a hole in the bottom, put the insert in and reassemble the strut as if it were the factory piece.
