Koni rebound adjustment help

Koni rebound adjustment help

Does anybody know how to adjust Kont shocks/struts for the Cobalt? The instructions are pretty bad that come with the product.

???????? Every set of Konis I've ever worked with you just adjust them by turning the knob on the top of the strut.....I wouldn't expect the Cobalt ones to be any different.

the above is correct. i think you might be having trouble with the rears. you need to remove those to adjust them

OUCH, I didn't know the rears were like that on the Cobalt. That's kind of a bummer. My friend's Accord you could cut small sqares in the trunk liner and access the adjustment from there.

Turn the shock upside down and compress the shock all the way down. Now turn the shock body while compressed ALL the way down and turn till you feel it "bite" a notch. It is exactly 2 full turns from full soft to full stiff, adjust as you like.

thanks man. i was wondering the same thing as well. directions are unclear like the other said. + imaginary rep

also. what do you recommend for the adjustment? i really don't wanna take it off and on to figure out what works best. lol

I think that is a way to do it...that's how I did them in my Cavy. I've never heard of having to take the wheel off to adjust them.

Yeah, actually I'd be glad to find out for sure. If the Cobalt's require taking them off, I'm going to go with something other than Koni's. If it's just taking the wheel off, that's fine because the only time I would ever need to put them on full stiff would be for a road course or auto-x and I change out to R-compounds anyway.

Come to think of it, I know of my friend's Accord, another friend's GTI, and several Civics and Cavs that all accessed theirs through the trunk.

You would have to go with Coil overs. Koni is the only shock/strut available for the Cobalt at present

That was what I meant . Believe me, I've looked up and down at every option. Right now I don't have the extra $400 to cover the cost difference between Konis and full coilovers....so that'd have to be put on hold.

I set mine at 1 full turn so that is right in the middle of the adjustment range. I don't want a punishing ride as the sportlines make the ride a lot harsher than stock. I'll be putting them on in the spring once it gets a little warmer out. If you need any info PM me in the spring and tell you how it feels. I can have both rears out, adjusted and back in in less than 1/2 hour so it's no big deal to fine tune

other cars have acess from the rear strut tower because they have a strut in the back. we dont, we have a shock. however this opens up a lot of choices for rear shocks, as all we have to do is find a typical drag/road race replacment shock for any older vehicle that is the correct length and we are good to go. many of them are externally adjustable with knobs.
